The preatorium, streamlined

Those 8 player story duties are like that because new players complained about having the duty cleared by the other players before they finished watching the cutscenes. TBH I kind of liked it better that way back then. Even for the new players the cutscenes weren't forced so they could have skipped them and watched them later if they'd wanted to. You could even argue that the new players don't contribute much to the boss fights unless both tanks or healers are new simply because the people running these on roulette are severely overtuned gearwise even after sync compared to the item level expected at the time the quests were added. I think Darklight or base relic was endgame back then... it was a really long time ago lol.

If there are "no rewards at all" from queueing for mentor roulette, why are you doing so?

Yeah, they might not be as great as gaining the additional XP that is almost enough to move from level 79 to level 80 through the MSQ roulette, but you're still doing the Mentor Roulette for a reason.

The only ex trails I cant finish in 45 minutes with 7 sprouts are nidhogg and sephirot, the rest I have macros with instructions and they go fairly well

And you really think that was a good experience for a new player? These duties are story first and fights second. The idea of "watching the cutscenes later" is so absurd when the cutscenes are the whole point of the place, even more so now that the bosses fall over. Seriously, Ultima weapon getting killed before the song even kicks in is so silly. Might as well tell them to youtube it while you are at it.

As someone that came back recently i for one was happily surprised they changed it (maybe they should somehow block the rushing to the teleporters as well) since people can actually see the story without the need to feeling having to skip for others cause you want your mad rush rush xp.

That's the entirety of your argument there. The original method gave the new players a choice that had no impact on the other people in the duty. The current implementation gives no one a choice at all. The only reason this even became an issue in the first place was because of that "world revolves around me" attitude you're waving around there.

You don't have to do the roulette. It exists specifically to help new players.

It is literally this reason why they made the cutscenes unskippable.

And it seems you have a "world revolves around me" attitude when it comes to the MSQ roulette. You can not do it and get the same EXP and tomes as you would doing something else (more probably) than you would if they made the cutscenes skippable again.

I sure hope you skip cutscenes in new expansion content so you aren't inconveniencing 7 other players.

The roulette is there to help new players with huge rewards as bait, NOT the other way around where you get a roulette with massive rewards and new players "happen to be there".
If you don't want to help new players, don't do the roulette.
This has nothing to do with "the world revolving around me" so keep that attitude in check, it is the goal of the very thing you are queuing for.

That's exactly the dev's intention, yes.

People were too impatient to wait for new people to have their complete experience, so the devs force-mandated it. The dev's actions clearly show their intentions sided with the new players having their complete experience, and that their experience supersedes yours, as they could have simply ignored it like the countless other topics and issues people complain and bring up all the time. You're there for the sprout's sake, not the other way around, remember that. If you don't like it, don't queue.

I've said before – if people had the patience to wait for sprouts voluntarily when they were present, the devs wouldn't have had to force-lock it and we would still get to rush through the dungeon on the occasions when there are no sprouts.
