Fishing Not Respectful Of Player's Time

Absolutely hahahah! Been out fishing many times, with many hours spent (enjoyably, of course). But sheesh, if I were looking for one particular rare fish, then A) I'd never participate at all because I can't just zip off to the Aegean Sea, and B) The number of hours left in my life wouldn't be enough to scour the ocean in search of not just one rare species of fish, but a singular, unique rare fish.

Pretty sure this would ruin fishing for the more hardcore fishers.

One of my friends has caught every fish in the game. There's a whole fishing discord server, etc.

This is like advocating stripping down healers further because non healers don't like them.

Just to further this, I would like to see the baits reworked so their description tells you exactly what fish prefer a particular bait, then reduce or refine the variety of bait so that a “family” of fish all prefer a specific bait. That way you could increase chances significantly to target, for example, sharks, or octopuses or crabs. (Basically any fish that use the same but recolored icon would be a family)

Doesn’t have to be anything 100%, just give me a better than pure rng chance.

Just /sit with fishing rod is out and relax. You will get done when you get done with the fishing log.

In the end it is kinda like fishing IRL you can do everything right and not get anything. Enjoy the aspect of fishing bring a friend chill with peeps in discord.

A tackle box and a fishing boat mount from which you could fish from would be cool though.

Jobs shouldn't be designed for the top 1% of the playerbase or even the top 5%. They should be designed for the enjoyment of the other 95-99%.

Though some would also say not everything is meant for the 99% I think it is okay to have niche jobs with their own niche content.

Maybe SE operates on the same stance to a degree.

The 95-99% can utilize fisher just fine. They can catch the fish they need for leves, class quests, and to make food.

The big fish are the raids of fishing.

Why would you want to take the challenge out of the game? Getting the entire fishing log is supposed to be an achievement not a cake walk. I do agree on the bait box being separate from the inventory though. That would be amazing. As it is I keep my bait in my chocobo saddlebag.

Not every part of the game needs to be enjoyable for every player, especially since it would be impossible. Different people like different things.

Fishing is its own side content for the most part. There for those who enjoy it. Safe to ignore if you don't because it won't impede your progress in any other parts of the game. I've leveled fishing solely to get what I need for crafting yet I probably buy what I need from the MB more often than I catch it myself. I could stop leveling fishing and it wouldn't impact my ability to craft.

The answer is actually quite simple: Yoshi P has said that when they add more inventory slots it is far preferable to add slots you can use for anything, rather than adding slots you can only use for one thing.
That way the people that want the space to store tackles and lures can use it for that.
The people that want a "crafters bag" can use the space for mats.
People that want a "dye box" can use the space to collect their dye.
Etc.

He has actually been very clear on this. And this is why we got the chocobo saddle bag.
He has said we should never expect to get new inventory slots dedicated to specific things (like a tackle box) when we could get... just... more inventory.
