Also wouldn't be against Yoko Taro designing more content that isn't Nier. He is really good at a the fantasy genre, and not just the sci fi. His raids also established a lot of new things I think the game could use.
Soooo... I'd say yes. But on a different level.
Alexander and Ark are among my favorite content in the game, they were reimagined by the FF XIV team.
As much as I dumbly love Exdeath, Kefka, their themes and their super form, I didn't liked how they were added to the game.
I would rather like if they reimagine villains likeGaïa and Ultimecia, except Nomura shouldn't design the character this time. I mean, he copy-pasted Gaïa into The world ends with you...
Reimagine content into XIV? Diabolos, Ark (Cruise Chaser), Alexander? Good.
Reimplementing content into XIV? Exdeath, Kefka? Not good.
Original content into XIV? Susano, Innocence, Titania? Veeeery good, my favorites content.
I hope Anima will fall in the "Reimagined content".
I feel like it's a given Anima is going to exist in a different context then it did in FF X, especially when it's one of the MSQ trials.
It's likely somewhat redesigned as well considering that they got the FF X artist on board for the job.
How about a no. And plus the guy does only story, so it only affect the normal mode.
Honestly if he was the scenario writer for the Automata raids, I'd rather he stick to his own projects going forward and not write any more story for FFXIV.
Anyone can imagine difficulty.
Now translating it in a gameplay content with it being fair, thought, calculated, balanced... that's another piece of work. Which Yoko Taro has never demonstrated in his creations. That's just not his job, that's it, there is no shame in that. Just like Yoshi-P wouldn't be able to tune an Ultimate raid on his own, that's not his expertise.
I love Nier, I love Yoko Taro and maybe a Savage version of one of his raids he's already done could be good. But as somebody who plays for the story, the world, its lore and so on, it feels jarring having fan service content and feels a little out of place, especially when they make it an in world thing (and I know it's not the first time) - I guess I'd have preferred if it was treated as "yeah this has nothing to do with the game world". Don't get me wrong, I am all for references, I mean, Crystal Tower was reference heavy but made to fit in the FFXIV world, Eden was reference heavy but made to fit in the FFXIV world (aside from Gaia's lips). Ivalice I think sits somewhere in the middle, but does better with Bozja even if I don't like its story. But Omega felt jarring until the last section, the last section was great. And Nier feels jarring overall.
I guess what'd interest me or hook me more is to see what Yoko Taro could do with the game's existing world and lore rather than implant his own. It was what they tasked Nomura with Eden and Matsuno to a lesser degree (because he still implants Ivalice).
