it's honestly the best call if they arnt gonna tie demi summons to aeterflow anymore. Its just busy work atm

I'd prefer to have the big summons on a gauge like MCH. I love that Phoenix can heal but the timing is too static.
To me all four can stay around, just with the energy skills acting as low level variants of Fester/Painflare, which are then given upgrades during the Bahamut phase in order to distinguish it from Phoenix come 6.0. This is mostly to keep the ability prune and lack of balancing for ARR from being a complete turn off to new players that want to pick up Arcanist, which I think is a problem they’re going to walk into in the long run.
I still think that Aetherflow should return to Arcanist too, for the benefits it gives to both of its Job paths at low and high levels alike. The only other option I would approve of is implementing charges on Trance, but capping it to one initially on zone change/reset. The ‘single charge pre-combat’ change is something I’ve admittedly wanted on all classes in general since Stormblood just to shift the raid window dynamics a bit, rather than converting everyone to static 2-minute rotations as has been suggested elsewhere.
At this point the summoner isn’t what I originally signed up for and I have moved other jobs as a main. The Phoenix is gorgeous but they destroyed the a dot class I loved in ARR and HW. There are so many versions of the summoner I do hope they figure out a way to settle on one. Really hoping maybe we can get a geomancer dot class to fill gap. Maybe they can shift the fester, painflare aethEr mechanic that way and double down on the current egi assault and Demi/trance phase rotation for the summoner. And how do I miss shadowfalre!
I wonder how come they can't make Egi Assaults instant like the Phoenix's abilities, as in the egi uses the ability as soon as we press the button without any delay.
Because unlike Fountain of Fire and Brand of Purgatory (which temporarily replace Ruin III and Outburst respectively), the Egi Assault(s) don't come from the player.
Rather, they act as "orders" given to your pets to execute their respective skills, just like with Aetherpact -> Devotion and Enkindle, thus the delay.
From the way i see it, Squeenix should finally discard the Egi's for good and turn them all into demi-summons along with a job mechanic that allows the player to choose/manage between said summons (in which every demi-summon has their own, seperate resummon cooldown which should be, fairly long before reuse, maybe even like 5min CD each so that everytime you do summon, it feels really impactful).
As for Spells, i'd say rework all the "basic" spells into something like this to keep combat interesting:
-Ruin 3 becomes a fully fleshed Dot(replaces Outburst if enemy suffers from it)
Ruin 2 becomes a DoT/debuff that grants a buff(once unlocked)that allows the use of Ruin 4 for a limited time (replaces Ruin 2 as usual) once the duration has finished:
-Ruin 4, (duration maybe 1/3 of the cooldown from Ruin 2) during the effect you can as before, cast a instant Spell with maybe a lower potency than usual, but will have a low chance to make one DoT "explode" for the full duration while reseting the timer.
-Outburst becomes a Dot (replaces Ruin 3 if enemy suffers from it)
-Tridisaster is now a debuff that makes DoTs tick faster on the enemy suffering from it, while reseting the cooldown for Energydrain/-syphon
-Energydrain/-syphon is now a Skill that targets one target/multiple targets and "channels" them for like up to 10 seconds until the SMN moves. It does damage each second and regens HP (MP with syphon or vice versa) with each tick.
- Painflare makes all DoTs deal damage for their full duration at once (similar like BLM does, always felt like this should be a thing SMN should have)
-Enkindle stays the way it is (maybe potency changes?)
As for the former Egi-skills, i'd say those should be used to grant demi-summons additional Skills.
