I'm in favor of this mainly because it benefits me.
Also the 36-hour-a-day endurance saint titles were kind of necessary for gathering but crafting wise you could easily get saint with 3-4 hours of crafting each day, I think people assuming it's a bot only thing don't have the information necessary to make that judgement
reading through a little of the thread maybe I should say I can think of a lot of reasons this wouldn't happen. You just wouldn't catch me complaining if it did
The title and achievement are the carrots-on-a-stick for the restoration. Issues of potentially rewarding bots aside, a housing plot shouldn't just be tacked on just because. People were only in it for the aforementioned rewards, and you shouldn't surreptitiously change up prizes after the fact.
Saying people placing in the top 100 getting first picks doesn't change my mind either, because that is also problematic. I placed in top 100 all three seasons by virtue of wanting the scrips, the Kupo of Fortune rewards, and to make some gil (despite cutting back on crafting in the second and third to give someone else a chance to place). I'm pointing this out in particular, because people participated under the knowledge that placing only awarded a title and achievement. Had they intended housing to be awarded for taking part in the content (which they hadn't, and I would be unsure of how I would feel about that if they did), it would have been made clear in the very beginning, and likely change levels of participation. Under those circumstances, I realistically wouldn't have placed all three times.
I'm also not more important than another player or an FC, and particularly when housing is as limited in availability as it is.
lol there are so many people who are bad at expert recipes in this thread (and on these forums and Reddit in general) who always cry “bots!” when the real reason that they didn’t rank is because they didn’t have the patience to grind out some crafts. It has honesty started sounding like a certain individual / sore loser and his claims of voter fraud. Everyone had the chance to compete, and on many servers you could place top 12 with only 200k points. That’s like 7 hours or so of crafting... over 10 days. So on most servers, you could pick a less-competitive class, craft for less than one hour each day, and still get the Saint title.
It’s not rocket surgery, folks.
You got the saint title for the achievement, not for additional benefits...
3 clicks per plot per day and max 1 relocation per day solves the bot problem, as well as players using 3rd party clickers (also botting)
I admit bots may not be as widespread. But watching someone make perfectly straight lines from mining node to mining node, mine, take off immediately, straight line to another node, land, mine, immediately take off and straight line to another node... and do that literally until their Diadem duty timer runs out? I'm gonna suspect a bot.
Crafting was easier; I doubt bots were common there. But gathering? Just from personal observation in the Diadem, you will have to go to some length to convince me the people who ground the Diadem through their entire instance timer without stopping or deviating once from their flight path were doing it all by hand.
Plenty of players have been in there working hard to build the Firmament who didn't get a title. Some weren't able to dedicate the time needed during the ranking period. Others were leveling and unable to rank though they were still contributing regularly both in and outside of the ranking period.
Possession of a vanity title shouldn't dictate who gets to buy a house a year after the content granting the title has become obsolete.
