When did I ever say it was? You can turn off that chat. And I've seen similar here in FF14. But most people in WoW have turned off all forms of world chat 10 years ago. But at least their chat is active. Meanwhile when comparing guilds to free companies, I've felt more connected within WoW guilds than I ever had in Free Companies. Purely because they're ALWAYS clickish. Most FC's I've been in there is a group of people that only talk in their own internal linkshell. You never hear anything being talked about in FC chat. They're in their own little clicks that make you question why they're even in the FC to begin with. And you can't get to know them because they're in content a new player won't unlock for a few months. By that time most have quit to go to other FC's to repeat the process of joining a click Linkshell and never talking in FC chat.

A game being not-negative doesn't mean it's positive either.

This is what I'm talking about with this game not being positive. You're a prime example of why both games have bad players who fan boy to no end using strawman tactics that wouldn't be out of place in a debate between CNN and Fox News.

In single player RPG, there would be none.

In a MMORPG, the point is to play with others. You find others who share an interest in the things that also interest you. It doesn't mean you need to have an interest in every facet of the game, and that includes story.

The conflict tends to come in when players from both sides get placed into the same content together. The story lovers may not want to rush through a dungeon and its cutscenes. Those who don't care about story do want to rush through so they can get to the next bit of content faster.

Players need to accept that there's a type of experience the game developers are trying to present. SE focuses on story in Final Fantasy games, including FFXIV. Blizzard focuses on competitive end game in WoW and many of its other titles. If you play FFXIV expecting the Blizzard game experience, or WoW expecting the SE game experience, you're going to end up less satisfied than you would by playing the other game. It doesn't mean you shouldn't play the game but you also shouldn't expect it to change to be what you want.

Bull.

The FFXIV developers have had their moments of extreme stubbornness as well.

In 2.0 The Developers told us we were "playing warrior wrong" despite multiple points of feedback. It took an uproar to get them sorted out.
In 3.0 The Developers told us we were "Playing Bard (aka Bow Mage) wrong" despite multiple points of feedback showing casting made DPS WORSE.
In 4.0 tanks were a mess, especially [DARK ARTS] Dark [DARK ARTS] Knights [DARK ARTS]. They had the worst mitigation of any tank. outside of TBN. It was being used as a crutch.
In 5.0 Healers have been and are still an absolute disaster.

Meanwhile Monk has almost always been in a bad spot.

I'm probably forgetting a major thing or 3 over the years.

Lets not pretend that the FFXIV developers are infallible, white knight them, or keep rose colored glasses on.

Praise them when they do right, and call them out respectfully when they don't.

And you can't say that "Blizz does nothing" when you look at patch notes and see entire sheets of buffs and nerfs changing classes overnight. If anything, IMHO, Blizz listens to pressure too much. They definitely have their favorite specs they want to play.

Ironically, that's actually one of their flaws. Sure the XIV devs are stubborn in certain aspects *cough* "pure healers" in a game practically designed to be a green dps that happens to heal *cough*, but at least they mostly give their reasonings to why not, whereas in WoW it's either straight up silence or they go up to 11 in what ends feeling like a "careful to what you wish for" situation.

Nobody is ever happy because many of their decision making ends up looking like this:

You mean the one troll spamming trial accounts? As opposed to WoW's history of ongoing conversations between multiple people? Because, having experienced both, it's really not a fair comparison.

That specific instance has been going on for months as mentioned by those posts. Additionally, that is only the most recent instance that I care to pull from, but equally foul chat can and does happen in say in major cities.

Full on brothels and explicit erp advertisements (joking or not) in party finder, etc.

I've also experienced both. All I'm saying is that this community living in a glass house shouldn't throw stones.

Ah yes. The chat where new players would likely get some of their first impressions of the game's community is clearly less important than say chat. Silly me.
