It was not demolition resuming that opened most of that the housing. It was people leaving Gilgamesh to go to other worlds that did it. Players were more than happy to give up their housing to transfer when it means they got back 100% of their purchase price, something that normally does not happen.

I think this is a good thing, but I'd imagine that most plots on most servers will still be gone within minutes, leaving a large number of players without a house once more. All these new wards are is a bandaid fix. It is nice seeing more plots being added, but it is always too little too late. This will be no exception. It'd be one thing if they were adding them regularly, but they do not. The housing system needs a bit of an overhaul from the ground up, or they need to add instanced housing like a fair number of other MMOs have. If they were to do that and it would allow me to have a house in a desirable location I would abandon my plot in a heartbeat.

Exploiters: Allow us to introduce ourselves

More plots with zero understanding of how the old ones were taken advantage of solves nothing with auto demolish still halted after 2/3 of the year, the very same complaints will resurface in a matter of days telling them to "Add Moar"

I'd like to relocate my plot because it's surrounded by those horrendous lego houses from kugane- but the good news, If I'm able to relocate, that would leave an open plot for anyone who desired my house destination

This only occurs because their system still registers 45 days have elapsed despite demolition timers being turned off. From a technical stand point, your house is in limbo. The moment they switch the timer back on, the system immediately demos any houses at the 45 day mark or beyond even if they were considered "safe" five minutes ago. This is why you'll see a handful of houses open up. After that brief window, demolition really doesn't open up that many houses. Put simply, it hasn't come anywhere near alleviating the housing shortage.

Why should they? SE bills housing as a major feature of the game and yet can't offer different sized apartments when the whole thing is instanced? Literally all they have to do is take the basement of Mediums and Larges, call them "Condos" and "Penthouse" and they'll have fixed a huge complaint people have. When F2P MMOs have figured this out better than SE. There really isn't an excuse.
