I highly doubt it is as prevalent as people are making it out to be. I've seen it, yes, but extremely rarely and mostly by friends of mine.
This mindset of "get rid of [insert skill name here] because a troll used it on me!" is a terrible one.

It's funny, half of you are saying to report it if they keep doing it when you ask them to stop, and half of you are saying it's a perfectly acceptable use of Rescue to force tanks into mobs. Based on your mindset I can see why this is becoming such a common problem.
If I can't come up with a way to deal with it in gameplay I'll try reporting it, and see if that works. I'm definitely not just putting up with this crap, though.
That’s because it’s not rescue pulling itself that’s harassment, simply the act of doing something again when told to stop, is. You can get a temp ban from using emotes too many times, or standing on someone’s lawn, if they told you to stop, and you didn’t.
I don’t know why you’re finding this such a hard concept to grasp.
Rescue is a useful skill, and shouldn’t be removed just because you personally don’t like how it’s used.
And like another person said, it’s an easy way for a healer to tell you to pull more, without having to stop healing and dpsing just to type it out in chat.
I've had this happen to me the other day and I promptly left. I wont respond with counter butthatery, that isn't me. Like I said in that the DF thread, I'm all fine with healers going and getting extra mobs, just don't be super aggressive and rescue me into them, I don't like how that makes me feel and it's that feeling that causes me to leave right after.
Some packs I specifically don't want to group up with other packs. I can't exactly wall to wall Holminster Switch yet and I try to avoid grouping the bears with other packs if possible in the first half. Bardem's Mettle on the other hand.. the beginning is a nasty nasty pull if you combine the first 3 mobs with the second pack + the big beaver/weasel/bear mob. I can't survive it unless healer is curebot(and I probably still die, even after Superbolide) and DPS is exceptional.
I've been rescued so little(even when I end up doing smaller pulls due to REALLY undergeared party), that I don't think it's as prevalent an abused skill as it seems. I think the last time I was actually rescued was day 2 or 3 of Copied Factory being out, and I was rescued out of the flames(though I was in what was going to be a safe spot) and ended up dying. Though, the healer did apologise(and our whole FC laughed about it too) since that was my only death in my first run of it.
While it definitely can be abused, I think most people just don't even bother with it since it is such a niche skill for very specific situations.
Reasons why I will use Rescue that you will likely not like but is beneficial:
*note, these go beyond the 'supposed' intended use of pulling a DPS out of an AoE (this is an absolute waste of the skill unless said AoE kills the player)*
* You're mob is tethered silly goose! Get the hell over here!
* Rescue does not work on players who are bound. *hint - players who have just used an LB3 are not bound ;)
* "Anyone going to stack with me? I don't want to die. Anyone?... No?" Banshō Ten'in jutsu coming for the OT.
* Yes, I will pull you into a stack of mobs. IF these mobs have aggroed other players. I mean, what are you doing over there?
These are just some examples. Fact of the matter is that Rescue is pretty damn good utility, and it is really difficult to get the full picture of how this ability is used unless you actually play a healer. I botched plenty of Rescues attempts for sure, but my intention is never malicious. Due to the long CD of the skill, it really can't be used to troll. It's like a honeybee's stinger and she has to be really careful how she decides to use it.
Someone who's rude enough to do it in the first place isn't likely to stop when asked. They had the option to suggest big pulls at the start of the run, and instead opted to be obnoxious about it.
Maybe I'll macro a "DO NOT use rescue on me please" message for the start of each run. Then if rescue touches me at any point I'll save the combat log and report it.
