This sounds very, very similar to what I've experienced. Twenty years of MMOs before I figured out my lack of connection to my characters was probably that they were also female; meanwhile it took me half a patch cycle to have my soul inseparably fused to my male elezen and miqo. Though RP with my character isn't really my thing, I've thought a bit about Crimson's story. His dad was an Arcanist who left Sharlyan to see the world for himself, and his mom was an aspiring swordswoman from the Brumes of Ishgard who was never taken seriously despite her skill, so she ended up leaving through unlikely circumstances to travel when she met Crimson's dad. Crimson received his name due to the hue of his eyes, though he grew up self-conscious of the trait and constantly hides it with various kinds of eyewear. Crimson spent the first twenty years of his life traveling Eorzea with his parents, learning basic combat skills from his parents. The three would work together to help others in need throughout their travels, but they never stayed in one place long, until the descent of Dalamud brought about the awakening of Bahamut and caused the latest Calamity. During the chaos of the event, Crimson was separated from his family. Now on his own, Crimson would use what he learned to survive in these hard times, taking odd jobs as an adventurer to support himself while also helping others in turn. He spent the next several years after the Calamity finding evidence that his parents were still alive, and has been searching for them since. Of course, now that he has been thrust with the responsibilities of being the WoL, he is constantly being pulled from this goal. Crimson is generally optimistic and supportive, but is known to be quite snarky when the mood strikes him.
Just a frustrating female Miqote, where while doing great achievements in career, still could not compared to my class masters, a popoto who got a girlfriend (SCH), a hulk with a petite girlfriend (WAR), and a Prince with a harem of 2 female Miqotes.(MNK)
And I still did not get Thancred yet.
I'm not up on all the lore but in my head I imagine my main, the Xaela paladin Alcyone, comes from a particularly warlike clan and has a desperate desire to win glory on the field of battle. She ultimately left to seek her fortunes elsewhere to satisfy her wanderlust, and to be a part of something bigger than the petty tribal squabbles she was accustomed to back home.
She has dabbled a bit with a lance and has also picked up some thaumaturgy along the way, but she really feels most alive in a suit of heavy armor, front and center of a pitched battle with all focused on her.
Alcyone is also very short even by Auri standards, so she compensates by making an effort to stand out and appear extra intimidating. Or at least as intimidating as someone who barely reaches the navel of a Roegadyn can. She is acutely aware that some find her red eyes off-putting, so she deliberately highlights them with face paint to maximize the effect. While on the outside she always has a bit of a chip on her shoulder, she's secretly a little girly on the inside. The hard exterior is a defense or coping mechanism of sorts, and because she feels she constantly needs to prove herself.
I know the last name "Tungsten" doesn't follow RP naming convention, but I handwave that away by saying she chose it for herself because non-Xaela find her real name difficult to pronounce, and it was the toughest material she could think of.

He used to be a happy kinda guy until he went to the First and became emo (my lore reason for why I suddenly look like an emo child lmao)

My character is pretty much settled down. She has her house, she takes care of the workshop of her company. She loves the outdoors - gathering and crafting furniture and other stuff and selling to her fellow adventures.
She actually want to spent the rest of her days in her little beach house in Mists and take care of her garden.
But from time to time they call for her and she know that she must answer. She feels like she has that responsibilty with her "gift". But truth be told - she rather stay out of the adventures business.
I was reborn as a 127 year old undead Drahn.
I love gooooold and I want to bring back the devine light to the first shard and all other worlds.
