Friendly reminder to please....

It doesn't matter what the noise is. It could be someone chewing into the mic. it's basic voice etiquette to refrain from broadcasting that over the channel as much as possible. You may be preventing essential instructions from being heard. This is why Push to Talk exists, and if Push to Talk isn't an option, then controlling your environment is.

Is muting not an option in this scenario or what? I don't know why this needs a thread when there's such an option.

But that probably mutes the child forever :V

Nah it's always easier to just criticise how someone else raises/handles their children. Still though, OP ought play something like Call of Duty and be in voice chat if they want the true experience of screaming, abuse hurling kiddie trolls.

Since when did FFXIV have in-game voice chat anyway? Using any medium like Discord, Teamspeak is completely optional...

not really optional because a lot of raiders demand that you use a voice chat.

Unless someone is forcing you in to that kind of raid party, then it's completely optional to begin with. Don't like someone's voice, don't need to be there. Dislike children screaming in the background, find a group less likely to have that kind of noise. I've seen plenty of "Discord, voice chat available" groups, but we are all (mostly) grown ass adults here, everything is optional.

Honestly, while this had turned into a semi-joke thread, the OP does have a point. It's all about respect. If you are going to have screaming kids crying for attention, raid when they are asleep or otherwise out of the room. I've had people in voice chat be silent except for the music that is blaring in the background, and that's not ok, I don't see why screaming kids should be any different.

The reason why that is the first solution that pops to my mind is two-fold. First of all, I personally play on controller, and trust me when I say How rough it would be too push to talk on a controller, secondary, if everyone annoyed by this would leave groups that would cause bigger incentive for the person to change their behaviour if it is as big of a problem as some people here claims it to be.

Its so distracting and makes me cringe to boot. Its almost as bad as the echo you hear when some people speak or hearing their mechanical keyboard.
Muting them is not even an option if they are doing the raidcalls

Bro, did you forget what it's like to be level 0 through to 11? Screaming and making noises is all part of levelling up in life.
