Like i said several times before. It would most likely be locked behind an npc. don't want to pvp? don't accept it. simple. that and i'm sure it would be able to be disabled, removing the ability to be challenged.

Urgh How about no ?
Duel spamming and PvP harassment should stay in its shamefull litlle bubble. I love this game for not pushing me into this mess I'd rather not partake with player expecting me to care who is the stronger 1v1 in a PvE party focused MMO.
Hard Pass.
If you want to fight someone, go to Wolves' Den.
Or queue up for Frontlines.
Yeah I think it would be cool to have something like that.
However, like many people said, we would need to have an auto-decline option or something like that.
I also think that it would be better if duels were forbidden in the Main Cities and Hubs.
Other than that, yeah I think it would be cool.
Gets a hard nope from me.
PvP isn't anything like a core part of this game. It's a tacked on afterthought at best and the tick rate + net code just doesn't deliver the precise snappy feel that good PvP really needs.
It is interesting that the people throwing out hostile replies and personal attacks or snipes against my sig are the ones wanting this “feature”...
I think that in some way reveals the exact kind if change to the community the rest of us don’t want, that would happen even if there was an auto-decline.
Also the comment about people demanding job rebalancing sue to performance in 1v1 is pretty insightful... I saw those requests all the time in WoW, and a version of them in ESO. Both of which are games that have suffered extreme levels of homogenization...
I have seen the hot mess or this “feature “ in WoW, ESO, and other games. It is one of many reasons why FFXIV is my main MMO.
Ffxiv isn't really designed around 1v1ing anyway. Certain classes have specific skills that make them clearly better at 1v1 than others that's why pvp is balanced around group play and not just which team can kill the other the most.
I'd like this. A lot of nostalgic, old mmos I played had this as a feature. What I'm not sure on is if it should be allowed in cities. According to the MCH storyline, Lominsans can't carry muskets openly- meaning two MCH having at it in the middle of the Plaza would be a no go.
However, on the field, certainly. Especially considering the few FATEs in which you fight boss NPCs like the one in Central Than and such and such of the spiked butt in Coerthas Western. Even without RP in mind, it'd be more handy than going to Wolves Den every time. Unlock in Wolves Den, gain ability to 1v1 outside of it.
This would be perfect for city states. Aion has this in their main city hubs in which there's a designated arena you can observe from in the stands or participate. However it's not 1v1 and a free for all. It's an open instance so you can't get shot at while watching, but after talking to an NPC, you're allowed in.
Git. Gud. I have seen Bards win against DRK, and WHM beat AST. It's possible, you just have to learn it. And no, XIV isn't designed around 1v1 but it is a system that has been worked on and thus viable for player enjoyment or rage.
People who are against this are blowing it out of proportion... smh. PVP isn't even big in this game, and there are many other things people can "spam" you with like FC invites and party invites and trade invites and yet people... wow... don't? Because that isn't tolerated in this game. I always love seeing people make up situations that haven't even happened and have no sign of happening just to take away something fun that others want.
