Suggestion For housing

Housing is not just for RP. I like housing and I dislike RP. There's a hell of a lot more non-rpers than RPers that own houses. And apartments get 2 flowerpots. You can't crossbreed with 2 flowerpots. Houses get gardens, with up to 8 plants per garden. Its not comparable.

I have a better solution: restrict housing to FCs. If people want their own house they can get an apartment. FCs actually need the houses for airships, rooms and gardens. My group of over a dozen have been trying since maintenance ended to get a house and every time we find an open plot it gets stolen by someone relocating their house, or some script kiddie running a macro to target the placard.

This whole situation is ridiculous.

This is not a better solution. Let people be able to get houses reasonably, fc or not.

Better yet let fcs have guild halls, theres a couple of games that do that.

Shell FCs... just to get extra housing for their main FC materials. Very little of the freed up personal housing would go to genuine FCs and not shell FCs. On Louisoix I believe someone I used to be friends with has 20 shell FCs (plus the main FC), each with a house. And she could just get even more accounts for even more shell FCs if it came to it (and knowing her, she would). So that wouldn't solve much.

It is definitely a better solution. Unless you have a better reason why large groups of paying customers should be inconvenienced by a selfish few people and/or the company offering services they can't consistently or properly moderate?

Why do you think making it so players cant get homes is better than having a guild hall instead of making fcs have to buy a house.

Why can't I get a house because youre mad at bots and cheaters.

So let me get this straight. If you have a job, are in college, have a family to look after or have any other normal real life responsibilities that are very common to have...this automatically means you don't want housing enough because you don't have time to camp a plot all day, or you don't want to use your little free time doing nothing but stare at a placard?

So according to you the majority of the playerbase don't want housing enough.

DING DING DING! Found a player who doesn't know what the housing system gives you!

While you are correct that housing is a great asset for rp, they also grant actual game advantages as well.

There are crafting materials that can only be gotten from growing plants and the fc workshop. These can sell for a lot of gil.

You can get grade 3 fc buffs only if you have a house with a specific furnishing.

You can get a cp buff for your crafters by interacting with certain furnishings.

Houses are very convenient because you can have useful vendors, a materia melder, the fc chest, and the retainer and hairdresser bells in one room. Instead of having to run around a city or teleport to multiple places to get what you need. Having a house can save a lot of time and effort. Outside a mb is rarely far.

Fc houses in particular are excellent for nurturing a community because you have your own little corner of the game to meet and mingle, without the distraction and crowds of city hubs. This is great for any community whether they're casual, hardcore, rpers or a mix of all and more.

Probably more I have forgotten. Anyway I hope you can see now that houses have actual mechanics and useful things attached to them instead of just being rp hubs with no functionality.

Why should guilds that need the houses for housing-locked guild features get beaten out by the same bots and cheaters as well as people that don't get anything from houses they couldn't already get from readily available housing facilities that are already present in apartments or from their own guilds?

I'm not saying you should be? I keep suggesting making fcs their own system because making them have to compete with single players was weird in the first place, only my suggestion wouldn't take something away from players to do it.

Why are you married to the idea of taking something away from everyone because you can't get an fc house.

One of the other issues with housing is the bonuses don't expand to fit the fc. A 1 person fc with a large house and a 500 person fc with a house both have access to a max of 4 airships/submersibles and 3 garden plots. Because of the time and rng involved, someone in a larger fc may never even get a chance to utilize the garden for say crossbreeding minions or perhaps something like dragon peppers that can take up to 22 days to grow after all the crossbreeding (that's IF using multiple garden plots and removing longer growing plants after the shorter ones are done to re-use the plot). So by restricting the housing to FC only you would effectively punish those joining larger fcs.
