What if we could "Champion" jobs?

If you want to play a certain job, then play it. Don't use a different job to level it.

You're already getting the XP bonus when leveling the new job because you have another job already at cap. If you want to argue that the amount of that bonus should be increased, I can support that argument.

I can't support leveling one job by playing another, though. It makes no sense.

I'm against this simply because it could potentially allow someone to cap a job then gear it for end game then jump into something at endgame with 0 play experience on that job. However I'm also of the opinion all jobs should have started at lv 1 because I feel a lot of combat role basics are lost when you don't play the job at those low levels. Example. If I'm tearing hate off the MT as the OT while in DPS stance and not using my enmity combo at all it tells me something is wrong with the MT and potentially my DPS members as well unless they're actively using their enmity management skills.

Some are going to argue that its not likely to happen and stuff.

All I have to say is that it would happen and I don't want to be one of the people stuck dealing with those people.

We already have new classes starting way beyond level 1 as it is; if you're going to argue that we shouldn't be able to do this on account of not giving people enough of a chance to learn the job "properly", you should also be arguing for all jobs starting at level 1 so that they all have equal opportunity.

I noticed earlier in another thread, though, that most people don't seem too keen on the latter idea. I wonder why... :rolleyes:

I'd only ever play my healers if they did that. That said, not something that they will ever do. :P

IMO laziness. Its not like it took much effort or time to level a job to cap even back in ARR unless you were one of those people incapable of planning ahead.

I would only support being able to "Champion" BLU and any other unfortunate jobs to be designated as limited in the future. Not like I learned how to play BLU spamming 1000 Needles over and over all the way to 50.

So you admit that 1-70 content isn't dead, since you and likely other endgame players are out there sometimes. I'm sure you're not the only person doing hunts on your server.

Honestly I would just rather see POTD XP get radically increased so it burns people out a bit less and people cut their teeth on new jobs in POTD rather than duty roulette, because unlike duty roulette POTD gives you your level 60 rotation out the gate and that is going to resemble your rotation for later levels on most jobs.

Samurai for example doesn't get its 'real' rotation until 50 and doesn't have any positional element until 52, and both are rather important to how Sam function. Ninja doesn't get armor crush until 54 or all its mudras until 45, firestarter doesn't exist until 42 which defines BLM's rotation until they get to 60 at which point it literally entirely transforms, ect. While there is some virtue in a player learning how to play a sub 60 BLM for lower level roulette content overall it seems weird that you are expected to learn to play a job wrong before learning to play it right.

Of course the ideal ideal would be to rework every job so it plays 'like itself' from low levels, like giving Thamaturges a weaker Enochian and Fire 4 so they learn that they learn to juggle refreshing Enochian from early on, or giving Sam a minor positional damage reward for its attacks out the gate, but for some jobs this would be a pretty hefty rework, like without basically removing Huton and Suiton from mudras (though I could see removing Huton from mudras as it doesn't really interact with your mudras at all in your rotation once you get your 'real' rotation) I don't see how you could make them and armor crush lower level in the job, forget about thief abilities.

I would only support if it only give you to “champion” exp into same role, i.e. Tank to tank, heal to heal and dps to dps. Just because I found how repetitive leveling same role back to back to ease out my inventory and retainer storage.

I still love the idea of leveling a job by playing a different job. Can I do Syrcus Tower and get loot from Ridorana Lighthouse? No? Then what's the difference. You play certain jobs/duties/etc. because that's what you want to do. Besides, leveling additional jobs isn't even that hard. What's the point in playing a game if you just want to get to the end instead of enjoy the entirety of the game in the middle?
