100% this.

Quite frankly they owe healers an explanation that's more than just "we need more time". They should be providing us with a clear roadmap of how they're planning to address obvious underlying healer issues going forward so that we can have productive discussions and hold them accountable so this doesn't keep happening.

Nah, the real mistake was not making Yoshi P wear the dancer garb for the big reveal. Opportunity wasted right there!

Also honestly, I can't figure out what an additional healer would do to differenciate themselves. WHM has HoTs, SCH has Shields, AST has buffs. Maybe debuffs? But then that'd be contrary to taking Str and Int debuffs from PLD, MNK and DRK.

Hi, I am a healer main and have been so for 5 years also. I am glad that they are focusing on balancing the healers they already have before they go and push more out. I am also happy that Dancer is a DPS, as it has never been a healer, just a support who was sometimes given some heal capabilities. Would I like more healers? Eventually, but I am not going to sit here and tell Square Enix that they made a mistake when they have their priorities straight. Why add to the problem before its fixed?

I'm so sorry that you have trouble reading something correctly, but I will point that you enter in one of the 2 category of people that I mentionned on my first sentence, I never said "only healer", because I know that some healer don't care as much as I do, or not at all. But anyway, english is not my first language, so I'm sorry if that made a misunderstanding and will take the blame that I was not clear enough in my sentence.

As I agree that they need to balance healing first, I will also point the fact that they had 4 whole years to do the balancing, and as Sauvage said, just a bit before you, the few attemps to balance they did, are clearly not enough, and that's one big part of the problem. Also, it's not about dancer being healer or DPS, that's never been the point. It's about no new healer job at all after 4 years. I also agree that dancer fits more as a DPS, but since DPS never missed their chance to get a new job on an expansion, the main point was, they should have released an healer. It was the turn of the DPS to wait another expansion to get a new job, or maybe a patch in the 5.x series. It could have been ANYTHING ELSE than the dancer, it's really not the point. I just felt, like many, that after 4 whole years, it was finally time to get a new job for my favourite role.

I'll enjoy the 5.x, be patient, keep paying for my 10 retainers and buying their mounts that cost way too much on Mog Station, but I am really disapointed, and I had to let Square Enix know. But more than disapointed, I'm frustrated, and it's because the fact that Yoshi-P just simply said nothing about the healers situation in the key note. He could have taken 1 minute just to tell something on the situation. After all, he did gave the same exact reason for tank and healer in a keynote of Stormblood, when he said we won't get any new tank or healer, and took the time to explain a little bit the reason. Even if main healers are 10 or 15% of the FFXIV population, I really think that it's reasonnable to expect to have a word on every role of the game. The information was told on an interview later and reported on a japanese website that is not an official SE, it's a really bad way, I think, to inform people of what's going on.

There was no "mistake" on SE's part. There's people being upset that they didn't announce the job that they wanted, that's it.

I think a lot of this can also be blamed on players taking leaks as gospel. People put too much stock in information that wasn't official. They set themselves up for more disappointment than they would have had if they retained some scepticism.

While the information at the time of the leak may have been accurate, an incredible amount of things can change over the course of development. Blu turned out to not be what the leak had said it would be, and this was several weeks before the keynote yesterday. That should have put some players on their toes regarding dancer. For all we know the idea of having dancer be a healing class was scrapped in the early stages of creating it.

I honestly suspected dancer wouldn't be a healer. Apparently it was a support/dps or just a plain dps in other ff games. I also thought it didn't quite fit for a healer. When you think of someone dancing you think of things like agility, speed, strength, a lot of movement...things not typically associated with a magic user. That isn't to say SE couldn't have made it work, just saying that personally it didn't appear to be a straightforward fit.

Ahhh, yes. This. They should have said right from the beginning that it wasn't a healer and there would be no male viera. Making us wait to hear bad news just intensified the bad reaction everyone had.

They said the reason they didn't put a new healer in SB was that they wanted to focus on balancing the current healing jobs. 2 years later and they're all pretty much in the same state and then they give us the same excuse for this expansion. If they're not going to put in a new healer they could at least not lie to us about why.

Clearly what needs to be done now is the PC modders need to go to work making mods for every single piece of headgear and send the specs in to Squeenix. If everyone does the work for them they'll put it in right?

Also don't worry about how in the last expansion a new melee DPS was added even though people kept complaining melee DPS jobs were not balanced well...
