Oh really? If that's the case then I see no reason why they shouldn't just code everything as tabletop..................It may be strange but if it works, it works!

I totally agree on this. I think that lofts, stages and bridges should be classified as platforms for placing items on. My retainer currently looks like a troll under a bridge because she can't stand on it.
Time to remove all these silly restrictions.
let us place anything we want...anywhere!! suspend mid air, bury something through the ceiling or floor/wall, stack any items we see fit. Rotate an item upside down if thats the look we are going for.
Remove all these restraints and shackles of "tabletop", "wall mounted", " indoor and outdoor" silliness .... ugh
We need freedom to decorate ANY way we choose!
I can't even get a tabletop item onto a loft platform. I have a PS4, the controller has no way to view the higher area, if you get up on the platform (or anything else to give you line-of-sight) to see you fall straight through, and no matter what I try the item just flaps around always purple, never placeable. I don't know of any shelf high enough to even try the floating glitch - even then, I'd never be able to see well enough to pull it off. Very frustrating.
I'm also on PS4. It seemed to me that if you activate editing mode while standing on the loft or stairs, there's a "move one item" limit before the game notices you're standing on an item that 'should' be non-solid and drops you onto the floor. Alternately you can stand under the loft and tilt the camera so it's overhead and above the loft and you can see where you're putting things.
thanks for the tip, standing under it worked for me :)
You know you can float ground items on top of lofts with the inventory glitch? Go on YouTube and look for Shei Cloudbank to find her tutorials. She's done them for several different items. On Facebook we even have spreadsheets for minimum height requirements and starter heights.
Start with a Riviera open book shelf. Also some items are harder than others. I also find wooden lofts are great to push up several items at once like bamboo planters and doman dogwood.
another good tip, will definitely be testing that out. thanks.
