When it comes to Glamour, the last thing I look at are the earrings. If at all.
I would not recognize a Veteran by his earrings :)

Exclusive is only exclusive for as long as the company says it is. Can't even really compare it with Feast rewards since PVP is rife with cheating, boosting and win-trading, to say nothing of alts clogging up the leaderboard (not everyone, mind you, but it happens, which makes competition for those things pretty stale).
As we've seen from countless other things -- mog costume (once "exclusively" for Fan Fest attendees) and other Mog Station items (once available in-game for free, now available again for a fee), exclusivity doesn't always mean forever.
It's a sad fact that very few people who are playing now care about what you went through back in 1.0 to get that item. Just like people now don't care about how hard it was to get the Dreadwyrm stuff back in the day. It's easily craftable now. Doesn't diminish what you went through at the time to get it, but just realize that everything you work for in game may very well eventually become available for very little effort.
You can at least take some comfort in the memories you created along the way... those last longer than any video game pixels anyway.
I'm more outraged that they are giving earrings for a five years anniversary event... This just look laziness to me
(don't say they will give minion and orch roll, I'm talking about glamour itens).
People are upset the items from 5 years ago are going to be available to everyone else without an extra word like 'replica' so they can't have that 'extra gold star' along with their 'lifetime lower sub' 'legacy mount' 'legacy tattoo'?
That's so sad. Bard, play Despactio.
Is it really that sad that people want to show their accomplishments?
The fight wasn't easy. It was not something that was just handed out to people playing at the time. People worked hard for it. People lost statics over it. People never felt better after completing it!
While the fight was a long time ago, and cannot be replicated now, it doesn't lessen the efforts of the players who completed the fight at the time. The real heroes of Eorzea they were.
I don't think it's sad at all. They have every right to be justified in this upset.
Soon as I saw those white ravens in the reward list I knew s**t was gonna hit the fan. Honestly this thread took longer to pop up than I thought it would.
But really, people were already disappointed that all they got for beating the hardest fight in 1.0 was a pair of barely visible earrings to show their accomplishment and now even that’s being taken away. I can see why they’re upset.
They are giving earrings to celebrate FFXIV's anniversary, and this upsets you?
Your sub costs less, you have a nifty tattoo on your back, a unicorn horn and an exclusive chocobo.
And be honest, did you even wear those earrings?
