Well if it's connection related... that's a personal problem, not a design demanding sprint.

well, if the only way to clear it is to circle inside the boss, and the actual ring is useless, that's a design issue in its own. But it does need to be said that there is an upper limit to how tight you can program mechanics because of that latency. My guess is that because its a prolonged sequence of attacks, small amounts of latency and server positioning pile up to make it hard or unavoidable. that latency in itself isnt as much an issue for single or multi attacks, though. I'll try to record it when I have spare time for a run.
Every time I've thought I needed to use sprint to avoid a mechanic, it really just turned out that I wasn't reacting fast enough. If latency is the problem, that is what the problem is, and actually has nothing to do with not sprinting.
In any case, if you feel you need it, then use it. I don't see a reason to call out Yoshi-P on it. If I was him, I'd say "git gud" :p
I have to agree with others here. Sprint is not necessary at all, even after he begins to speed up. So long as your behind him, you can tightly circle behind him as he moves.
I did this quite a few times last night and had no issues without sprint (because the lot rules right now sucks, so I am stuck there, lol).
If your having issues, I would try and cut those corners of the boss earlier if he starts to get too close xD
Dunno what all was said since the first page, but just wanted to chime in and say that on Construct 7, I haven't had to use sprint to avoid getting hit either. Of course, I'm using monk, so I dunno if that makes any difference.
Never got it with or without sprint tbh
Just because it wasn't that much of a hassle, behold! The mechanic done flawlessly by a Paladin!

You do not need to use sprint for than unless you're ill prepared. No fights in this game need sprint.
My slow tank ass can walk around him and not get hit
Maybe you are just having latency issues or not in right spot
