Haurchefant’s Gravesite?

I've tried manipulating the texture levels the best I could in PSP X9... The first word in line one is his name. Line 2 is hard to decipher. The word "Living"(Loving is another candidate however) is the most readily obvious word in line 3, along with the r and the g in the next word. The words in the remaining line are far too distorted.

So I just got back from the 30th Anniversary FF exhibition in Roppongi. In the FFXIV section they had a little memorial to our dear fallen friend, including a replica of his grave.

Well, it looks a bit different to the in game image, but maybe this is what they intended it to say and it just came out a hot mess?

Well, the text isn't what's on the in-game version, but it's probably the most canon answer we're going to get.


I was thinking earlier today though - it's practically a cruel joke (and/or a spoiler hidden in plain sight) that his surname is very nearly "Gravestone"....


I've also been thinking about it because I've been doing the Heavensward machinist quests, and that story never did tie back to the MSQ but I felt like it should have. Stephanivien would have known Haurchefant, and I feel like they probably would have gotten along well. (Though I guess ultimately it would have been too hard to bring it up when the player could be doing the job quest a long time apart from the intended-to-be-concurrent MSQ events.)
