This is something I have considered. I do wonder if people would answer such a question honestly or not. I’m hoping, since the surveys are completely anonymous, people would feel safe in admitting to if they have harassed someone before, and used a parser to do it. Of course, I am aware of the possibility of answers not being honest. I contemplated for a while with adding in a “I choose not to answer this question”, but felt that I would be more likely to end up with more of that answer that either of the others, thereby rendering the data in and of itself kind of useless.
I’m hoping since my intent isn’t malicious in any way, that people will try to be as honest as they can be. But, I know that not everyone will be, and such will be addressed in the analysis. It would be one of those things to “take with a grain of salt” with regards to the results. :3
I do appreciate your feedback regarding it though. ^^
Fair enough looking forward to results.
Don't care much for parser and not a raider, but finished it as best I could.
Just to confirm, I clicked through all the different surveys (didn't submit any inappropriately). All of them have the same questions? It's a bit weird that you ask "would you like to see a parser implemented?" in both the "questions for those who are pro" and "questions for those who are anti" surveys.
Loved reading your constructive comments on threads revolving around this topic and just filled out your form.
I'd very much like to see a parser in the game, even more so since I'm a ps4 player and aren't able to use third party software like ACT. While I'd like to have it on all content (cause believe it or not, but even in a basic dungeon I always strive to play to the best of my ability) I'd be content with it being just in savage and ex trials, the content where it's really helpful.
Looking forward to seeing your results and maybe someday a solution to this issue ingame :)
Ah I just remembered something.
I feel like the survey should have included this question:
Do you raid mostly in a static/fc/friends or do you mostly PUG? (Or both)
I feel like its an important question because who you run with parsers can have a different outlook on parsers.
"Never" is a very long time, as you noted with WoW. Things change over time, and something that was "we'll never do that" can suddenly be a thing that happens. Just look at how fast housing went from "12 wards ought to be enough for everyone" to "we're horribly sorry and will be scrambling to address it in 4.2." All it took was one revolt.
Done! I also shared it over on the Facebook FFXIV community, to try to spread the word. Hope that's okay. :)
Survey design is an interest of mine, so I find this pretty interesting even if it won't yield results that are generally applicable outside of this community. One thing I'd have liked to see is a question on how high priority you'd put parser development in game.
I'm very pro-parser, but I don't view an in game one as a priority. Why? Because I've already got ACT and FFLogs. They do the job. I'd rather SE spend its budget giving me something that can't already be done by third party tools. SE could satisfy me on this front by simply declaring "ACT is officially allowed, using it is not an actionable offense. Harassing someone with it is."
I imagine PS4 players who are pro-parser might feel differently. :) That's not meant as a criticism of the survey. It's easy to come up with more questions after the fact.
