4.2 Housing Update

ok...so i've been thinking...

and they're going to offer Cross Server FCs...

the only way for anyone on different servers to access FC houses...would be making them instanced.

does this mean instanced housing is on the way? or will only FC houses be instanced? just some thoughts on this.

I don't recall ever reading anything about cross server FCs ....???

If I remember correctly, new housing zones will only go live one week after 4.2, because, Yoshida said, he didn't want people getting caught up in the log-in wars again.

It got me really worried.

It means whatever they have in mind, it's still a first-come-first-served system. The only difference is now we can all log in and be on the server.

Zone limiations anyone? Now we're gonna get stuck trying to teleport into housing zones as opposed to the login screen? I really hope that's not going to be the case.

Honestly I'm not getting my hopes up. The mere fact that they are afraid of releasing the details means that they know of ways to abuse the system and have done nothing to prevent it. So again, just like before, they're relying on obscurity to make it look fair. Two days, three days or perhaps a week after the new housing zones are released, everything will be business as usual, with hoarders re-selling plots.

They have a proven history of complete incompetence in deliverying a fair housing system. And this secrecy isn't helping it. Especially after bragging about a new glamour system that give players almost everything we wanted and falling flat on their faces with an obscure system that already has severe limitations many players will hit immediately.

Was exacly my thoughts too. Until we can read the new purchase restrictions in patch notes i'm going to assume it litterally the same system as today. Still going to be a rush. STill going to be a shitstorm

Only partly. They would still be able to try it and probably some will get lucky. (And depending how many houses you can choose it might be even more of them) Sadly even if this might punish sellers (which they already could with the one fc/prive house per server..) this will also not be great for the rest of us. Some might finally get their house but a lot of people will just lose to the lottery RNG instead of other RNG. It will change nothing big with the housing system.

The only thing where it might stop flippers is when the house that will be freed will be put to lottery too so that they cant just simply sell it anymore but that would also mean that someone cant get lucky after an demolishing and just get their house..they would have to compete with others there too. (Kinda wondering how a lottery will function with such houses?)

So no I cant see much positive for a lottery system but since its an often written idea in the Japanese forum they will likely use that..

Yeah its kinda frustrating that they are not sharing informations until its too late because they fear that people will just prepare themselves for that...but those that already want a house will have the money ready for it so how can they even prepare more? I mean flippers will already try to prepare for things like an auction or an lottery system..not giving us a hint of what is to come will just leave those that dont have much out of the run. I also get the feeling like they knew that this is going to fail or can be misused..and if this is true I kinda question why they are not doing anything against that before they are releasing it? If 4.2 does not change anything big or is just another band aid that will leave most of the people without houses..I really hope that they will get all the rightful criticism that they deserve for this...there is only so much that people are willing to take..

Make it so if a person buys a house they cannot resell it for more than the standard house start price it began with. This will dissuade flippers who cannot make profits on multiple buys.

That's fair. We have a similar thing today, auto-demolition. Except you have to wait 45 days and also just get back 70% of what you paid (i believe).

How would they do this??? You all ready can't trade more then 1 million gil .. Even if they put a way for players to sell to other players house flippers are still gonna charge more making u either trade/mail/fc dump the extra gil.. The only way to kill flippers is random timers the land goes back up forsale when released

That is up to the coders to get this in place. House cost can be set at a certain price and never bought nor sold for more. It would stop flippers cold and solve the house problem on that end anyway. As far as house hogs, I'd say one personal and one FC per server. If you want the issue fixed and let people get their house, this is the best solution with the craptastic set up they have now (non-instanced).

The game has no selling period. People are paying other people to relinquish their plot, there's no way to code in a cap for this.
