THIS. The minions are soooooo cute. I wish the garuda minion was my egi instead ;_;

I personally want EGIS gone for once and for all and just make the rest of the Summons like Bahamut, Get into battle for 15 seconds.
Worst part is that those battle animations would see far more use as egi glamour than they ever would in LoV
While it says that on the slide, I do distinctly remember "one per patch" being said, likely in the same LL. It is definitely not something made up by the community, rather one of Yoshi Ps offhand comments.
Id already be satisfied if they made new egi's that have the same abilities as the current ones. Albeit with new animations to match their element.
I will never stop replying to threads like this. SMN NEEDS NEW EGIS NOW.
Summons are what makes a Summoner. End of the story. They have no excuses for this kind of treatment to maybe the most iconic feature of the entire FF series.
And no, Bahamut doesn't cut it in the slightest. You can take your derpy giant bat back if I can have diversity in my summons. Even if it's just in appearances.
NOT gonna happen.
Egis are deeply rooted into this game's lore; so much so that changing them from the ground up at this point would be a huge task for the development team.
It'd be like asking for ACN to not summon Carbuncles / SCH to not summon fairies anymore.
In fact, that's the whole reason why we want Egi glamours: so we can finally get the ones we've been missing post-2.0 (like Leviathan, Ramuh, Shiva, etc.).
Sure, we have Dreadwyrm Trance (and "Summon Bahamut", which is effectively an extension of that) as an alternative.
But like it or not, SMN's main form of summoning are Egis, ie. "essence" of Primals.
EDIT:
And speaking of lore, they will have to find another way (ie. new side-quest) to justify us being able to summon different Egis.
The Carbuncle explanation from the ÄCN side-quest won't work, given that most of the remaining Egis have different aspects entirely...
After looking it up, they did indeed say 'planning to release them one patch at a time.'
Chances are, they underestimated how much resources they needed (especially as they would need to make new 'skill/spell/Enkindle' animations for Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan, etc egi's). Good thing they said 'planning' and not 'promise.'Quote:
What’s the status on the glamours for summoner’s egis?
After assessing the resources needed to make this happen, we discovered that we need an immense amount, so we are planning to release them one patch at a time. We’re working towards implementing them starting from Patch 3.4, so please hang in there a bit longer.
