LB suppression is why you don't double up on jobs. Why not go quad ninja and have >50% uptime on trick attack? Because of LB suppression.

if nin is the top melee dps and not sam, youll bet there will be 4 nin meta.
and about lb supression, i cant count have many times ive done o1-3s with dup jobs. and let me tell you this, especially in o3s, dup jobs dont matter. there was one time i got into a 2x sam + 2x whm +2 pld party, we still got lb3 before animal farm and woulda gotten lb3 on nin/ig if we didnt mess up the animal farm (some1 didnt get their mechanics right leading to raid debuff and lb gauge limited). ppl were messing up and ddosing dc which end up disbanding after 3 tries but im sure we couldve clear it and i would provide the log for it.
and the only reason i didnt say o4s is because everytime i join a pf they always end up leaving if theirs dup jobs but ive hear and saw logs of ppl clearing it with dup on their first clear from one of my raid discord. its back when savage was released and not recently too.
You also lose party buffs for having people jobs. For groups to double on DPS, one of them would have to pull so far ahead, it'd be simply idiotic damage wise. All of the imbalance issues this game has, I can safely say I doubt the devs would have overbuff that har- oh wait, 3.4 AST. Nevermind. :p
because math. 4xta = 40s of 10% dps inc. while if u have other dmg multiplier from like brd or drg to multiple the % dmg buff instead of extending it. avg nin dps is lower than other dps, which doesnt benefit alot more compare to the higher dps jobs that can benefit that 10%. im on my phone now and cant do all that much or il go to fflog and get the avg of ea class dps value at 50%tile(tho imo, 35%tile is the avg player for me) to compare the dps difference and do more math to it (meta comp raid dps value).
then il say swap nin with the sams dps value and do another 4x nin (sam) raid dps to compare.
you guys where talking avout giving absurb dps potency buff thats why im thinking it maybe be too much that it can overcome the raid dps buffs. well one post from sylvain in another thread made a really good explanation. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post4482462
At the end of it all, I feel it's at least not even up for debate anymore that blm is the worst job to bring in the group.
But back to fixing the problem, there's a few easy fixes that could easily be implemented:
-flat 10% potency boost on all spells
or
Have b4 apply 10% magic vuln on target that lasts longer enough to keep refreshed
I'm all for blm being the greedy high damage dps, but blm in past games had decent debuffs as well. If we had a magic vuln up, I'd have zero issues with being equal dps to smn. Hell, it might actually allow double caster comps to be a competitive option to the physical damage meta.
