It's honestly fine. It takes less than a minute to login with a password and put in the 6 digit one time password for 2FA. In fact, I think it's actually counter intuitive to allow for them to 'pause' 2FA and saved on computers.

I'll defend SE for a few things people complain about... but yeah not the launcher. I feel like they should work on a better launcher. Hopefully they will by next expansion. I want it to be better so people aren't frustrated, like maybe also make it so it doesn't start from 0 when an update fails! It is by far not the worst but improvements would help everyone.Quote:
The launcher: Its incredibly wonky, it is by far the worse application I have ever had to deal with. I've downloaded some very crappy 3rd party applications but they make this app look like a trailer park.
I'd like to think that they would do some reworking of the forums and the lodestone to address common complaints at some point, but I doubt it. The XIV forums are more-or-less the same as the FFXI forums (the original lodestone/forums and XI's forums launched around the same time) and XI and 1.0 XIV were much smaller MMO's. They did do some reworking of the lodestone in the transition to ARR, but how much of that was cosmetic I don't know. Part of this is coming from the difference between east and west. The JP forums are not nearly as active as the English ones, while JP players use the lodestone blogs much more than we do. Since it isn't a JP issue, I'm not sure how visible it is the Dev team. Despite the efforts of the community teams, sometimes the dev team doesn't realize the significance or severity of non JP complaints until they experience it for themselves while abroad or someone asks about it at a convention and gets support from the crowd. Although considering the language barriers and difference between the styles of the game's populations I think the Dev and Community Teams do a good job addressing non-JP complaints most of the time, even if it isn't as timely as we might like.
Not to mention only a small part of the user base ever posts on the forums to begin with.
I think claiming UI details and overall accessibility as a result a weakness of FFXIV is perfectly valid.
I can only theorize, but I wonder if the outdated launcher is still used as it works the same across all platforms. PCs of all power levels, PS3 (RIP), and PS4 used the exact same launcher (can't personally confirm Mac users since there are only like 5 of em in the world), and SE has intended from the start to keep players on any platform on generally equal footing. So, no fancy PC launcher that's more intuitive since PS4 can't have it.
So, I doubt it will get any major updates on any kind unless it outright breaks.
You think the launcher is difficult to use?
Do you also have trouble operating a blanket, by chance?
You stopped playing a game because of a launcher? Lmfao.
I stopped playing because I couldnt get the game to work due to the launcher not allowing it, I did not realize that my antivirus, though I added an exception, still wouldn't allow it to work and I had to not only disable Avast but my Windows Antivirus completely. This has never happened before. Even on more questionable applications I could simply add a exception and they work but this launcher somehow just glitches out with the antivirus, now that I can actually play the game, Im far more active. Dont just assume shit without fully understanding the situation please.
