FFXIV is the first in a long time that Nobuo Uematsu has done the whole music track list for an FF game, and he indeed did do ALOT of tracks...... to start replacing them... well sorry but that is just a crime.
They probably are going to have too now that 2.0 is coming out. A lot of the tracks will not fit in with the redesigned maps. Of course they will steal some of the current music and re-use it but hopefully they at least get rid of Ul'dahs music.
SE....for the love of Odin! PLEASE let Naoshi Mizuta compose for this game! He doesn't have to replace Nobuo, but at least let him co-compose some tracks.
I somewhat agree. The zone music in FF11 always seemed to stay in my memory. Even now I can here the themes in my head.
If they just copy pasta'd Skyrims music I'd be a happy panda.
From what I remember Uematsu said he wasn't given any screenshots or video when composing the music for FF14, which probably had a big impact on why some of the music doesn't suit the game.
I imagine the music will be redone when they redesign the area's for 2.0.
I'm a big fan of Uematsu but think the newer stuff is much better as far as MMO music goes.
Maybe it's time to stop the bad extrapolation chain.Quote:

Every composers have to work during the developpement, which means what they see of the game can't be considered finished (even if it is).
And the idea of writing music to fit something is archaic. Music is one of the material that create the game world and the ambiance, not just some side dish. Writing a "style X" music because of the "style X" map is like a pleonasm.
There are far too many inspirations in the world setting of FFXIV to restrict the music to just some "fitting style".
Why is it a crime? He's done a lot of great work granted, but perhaps it's time to breathe some fresh life into the brand.
