Why do people DDoS a game?

Well, they got data about pre-orders AND subscriptions. This isn't the 90s. They can get a report on that whenever they want. Plus, they actually moved servers because the previous ones were at it's limit. So your point makes no sense at all. It's a DDoS.

Things have been quite stable for a while now, even on the ever-crowded Balmung. This was a bunch of repeated crashing, in a short period of time, that has now stopped. Seems like someone had their fun and is done.

Or SE identified a profile for the incoming DDOS packets and blocked them at their perimeter.

honestly? most of them are kids who got the program to do it. It doesn't take a lot to do it...just guts. Because it's easily traceable.

The reason why they don't get caught? Because most companies don't wish to pursue over seas legal battles.

lol, why do you play FFXIV if all you do is complain. Seriously, look at your post history. You complain all the time.

If I complained like that, i wouldnt play it. Why play something you hate? It's honestly a serious question. If I hated a product that much i wouldn't involve myself in it.

Do something that makes you happy. Complaining on forums all the time will never make you happy.

Looking on the forums I see nothing but complaints. If it bothers you then stay off the forums and enjoy the game itself. More power to you eh?

Thing is, they have been open and honest to us before in regards to when their servers were having issues, why lie now? Also to note that other major MMO's like Guild Wars 2 has been dealing with the same issue lately from what I have been told. I don't think they are targeting FFXIV in particular, but whatever is considered a major MMO title.
