I'd say mmos where PvP is open world. Aion has a pvp arena, but it's just for the sake of having an arena. Gear is not balanced nor are classes. So while NPCs will sell you basic gear, you'd best get on with tireless grinding and farming to stand up to seal clubbers at max level waiting to gank your pretty head on the field.
