Ff14 is an mmo that provides me with far more things that I like over things that I dislike-a gap the size of a ravine between the two. You're complaining about the obvious fact the content has to be done with groups in a MMO, and you say people are not mature by telling you that you can't complain about the game's being like this because it's a MMO ?

You have plenty of choices to avoid being grouped in the duty finder to have smooth and unstressed runs to progress the story.
Soon they'll implement the possibility to go on dungeon with your grand company.

But you'll unfortunately have to deal with trial and groups.
The game itself is already soloable a lot, fortunately we still have some content through the story we can enjoy with friends. It would be sad if it wasn't the case.

As others have said, this is an MMO. Its bread and butter is group content. The main storyline quest pushes you into this gradually, so that players in situations such as yours can overcome their uncertainty / inexperience with group settings.

If the main storyline did allow for single-player versions of the events, there would also be severe downsides. For one, the queues for main storyline quest dungeons could suffer significantly, thereby reducing the opportunity for the majority of MMO players who are interested in group content. For another, players who changed their mind after months of progressing on their own would suddenly face a massive barrier to jumping into group content, because they'd have far more abilities to manage and more complex dungeon mechanics to contend with.

I can sympathize with a desire to avoid groups, but such significant levels of unease indicates you may wish to consider another genre of game.

But that's the exact same thing here. For the quest you mentioned, you have to do the brayflox long stop dungeon, which you can que for.

Why are you ok with queuing in Swtor, but not in ffxiv?

You are misreading it. He said he doesn't have to do group content in SWTOR. The last statement is separate. You only have to if you want to, the story is not dependent on it.

Sooo, you played an MMO... to not play with other players and be alone. Also, a very, very, very small number of players care about your age. When they run content, they want you to play your role, and not be the cause of wipes.

Mayhap you should re-direct yourself to other single player Final Fantasies like FFXII and XIII for similar assets and direction.

I see that there's multiple pages on this subject so I don't doubt someone's said similar. But like... bruh. You for real?

Then this is not the right game for you.
Everything (nearly) is gated by the main story, and there are LOTS of dungeons and trials that are mandatory for following the main story - all of which force you into a group.


There are lots of MMOs where group content is entirely optional[*], but FFXIV is not one of them.
[*] Examples I have personal experience with include SWTOR, LOTRO, The Secret World, and Age of Conan. Probably WoW too, but I have no personal experience there.

In a MMO this hardly can happen.

Buuuuuut....... you know, there is our squadron behind the door... it maybe can make your dream true.

Playing with others does not mean grouping with them. I enjoyed Eve a lot despite flying solo for about 99% of the time and I definitely interacted with the other players being a pirate and a trader.

Forced group content (in instances) has always been a pet peeve of mine. Interestingly optional dungeons have never been an issue. Maybe it's the "You have to"? I think I've conquered most of my dislike but it's always a bit of a mehhhhh when a story dungeon comes along. As a mostly-dps player, it's usually a forced halt for 15 - 20 mins while waiting for the dungeon to pop if I have to queue instead of going with guild mates. Having friends to play with will probably help with the group content "hate", you can then have a good laugh when failing in some spectacular way.

Just use the Duty Finder.

As someone who prefers to do the least amount of content in groups, I know what it's like in other games having to practically beg people to do content. At least in FFXIV you don't ever have to do this except for Coil/Extreme Duties.

If they ever bring back the Adventuring Fellow Path Companion mechanic, which is for all intents identical to SWTOR's Ship Crew, that would probably be a viable way to allow "solo" play through some content but it would never be useful or smart enough for high end content.
