Im back on the SAM hype train! It's going to be glorious, all I have to focus on is facerolling across my keyboard, and I will succeed.

RDM. SCH got nerfed to the ground. They bring a single crit debuff, but lose their entire AOE roots. Bane nerf without bio and reduced potency like flare/holy.They lose weaving in their single target DPS rotation from the removal of aero, leaving just a traited bio II. They lose Blizzard II for AOE Spam. They lose Miasma II, which was still better than nothing. They lose the 10% boost from cleric stance. They lose the SS proc from their pet actions, which synergized with their need for crit, allowing you to spread your dots with increased damage. They lose the ability to replace a shadowflare if the tank is stupid.
What do SCHs get? More mind numbing broil spam, a fairy tether which will probably end up having a fairy based potency aka 50% of real healing potency, a heal that only procs if you dont get one shot at 51%, and a crit debuff, the only real jewel of the expansion.
Good idea SE. Lets cut off 4 fingers from a SCH's hand and put a ring on the remaining finger. That'll make up for it.
RDM looks like a sexy savior. Instant cast raises and a cure that actually heals well. Vera Cure -> Instant Raise -> Vera Cure -> Instant Raise. The recovery potential is beautiful.
I'm probably gonna stick with SMN as my 'main', but at the same time I'm still looking for a melee class that 'clicks'. Right now it's between MNK and DRG, but could it be SAM? Time will tell.
With the DRK changes I will main NIN (my current #2) or SAM.
Ninja Main since release .....but i like SAM just to much will switch my main to SAM.
My old Main PLD looks cool again. So i will level SAM/NIN/PLD -> than a range dps or a healer :D
So torn as a MCH. And it's strange because I tend to like Heat Gauge mechanics in other games. But in this case it looks like the only reliable ways to build it are Flamethrower on a 60s cd, and Heat Stabilizer on 120s cd. There'll be changes to how you once intuitively responded to having reloads ready, not to mention the min-max potential of say - breaking rotation to try and overheat 10s before a boss jumps, which could be quite hard considering F-thrower and Stabilizer are likely to have ideal rotational spots. Maybe it won't feel as bad in practice, but for some reason I'm really hesitant on this.
It would be easier if their Heated combo moves didn't look super cool :P
The alternative is BRD, which looks amazing now, but in reality the gameplay might end up too simple for my tastes...Straight Shot, DOTs which now last 30s leaving more time for Heavy Spam and focusing on BL / PP / song rotation. Which is great mechanically but might be too simple for my tastes...I'm one of those weirdos who likes lots of buttons. RDM is quite similar to 3.X MCH in some ways, with a mix of short and instant casts for mobility, and 50% procs. That said, it's important I stay in the physical support role as a main. Decisions, decisions...
I'm maining both RDM and AST..I just need to figure out which will I level first..
I'm thinking SAM or RDM. I've been a BLM main, and it doesn't look very exciting. You're stilll just spamming Fire IVs, just they've given you the ability to spam more of them, possibly more flare usage for AoE, and a nuke to use every 30 seconds. It just looks boring because it looks so much the same. An expansion should get me excited for what's new but instead BLM just has me thinking what's the same.
SAM looks more or less perfect. Straightforward and no silly mechanics that don't make sense. I like that RDM is not just spamming one element like BLM does, but the aspects of using a lower level spell to start every chainspell might get boring. Other than that, it looks good.
AST and SAM. I'm going to level AST first through the story but I'm going to work on SAM by doing dailies and beast tribe quests. I hope to have it to sixty by the time AST is seventy.
Between SMN and BLM right now. Very torn at the moment.
