There is nothing rare or hard to make for any craft. All materials are common, so no item in the entire game should be over 10k. It should be less than 5000 gil.
If what you say is 100% accurate, that all items cost either 10k or less, then the obvious question to ask is... why are they not?
Let's say an item is available on the market for 10k gil. At that price, almost anyone can afford to purchase that item; so, anyone who can purchase that item would be able to, right? Wrong. At such a low price, I'm sure there's hardly anyone who would be willing to spend their time gathering/crafting and placing that item up for sale. So, while everyone who has 10k gil would want to buy that item, hardly any of them will be able to.
So, the question then arises, how should these scarce items be allocated to a large group of player? If you fix the price at 10k gil, it will become first come, first serve. If you allow the price to fluctuate based on demand, obviously those who wish to pay a higher price will get the item.
Which is better? Well the artificially low price guarantees a constant low supply and high demand. A few people will get lucky, but, on average, very few people are better off. If the price is allowed to fluctuate, people who want an item more will pay more, or if they can put it to a better use (turn more profit), they will pay more. So, by allowing the price to fluctuate you allow goods to and gil to flow towards their most effecient uses.
Some may feel prices are high, but they've never been lower. And making gil is still easy. If you don't have enough gil to raise a craft ( Even though you can do leves for free ), you can still make a lot gathering, and eventually save enough to level a craft.
id like to see npcs sell more stuff to keep inflation from getting out of hand. If an npc sells cobalt ore at 4k each then the price would never go over that. Everything in game shuold be sold from an npc for a kinda high amount so that it creates a bench mark not to go over. This is coming from a lvl 44 min and lvl 50 arm, i stand to really make a profit the way it is now.
obviously you didnt read the patch notes. if you can still get cobalt ore for 1k you should buy it all. after patch it will be 3-4 each since youll have to mine them 1 t a time. all ore on my server is gone now. bottom price is 5k
not to metion it was an example
let me also note, many people dont list low lvl gear cause everyone power lvls now so not much market for it.
You have leveled miner. Leveling DoHs and DoLs is slow, lonely, and time consuming. Anyone who diesn't like my prices, is more then welcome to go through the trodging, slow effort i did to level them, and earn it for free themselves.
Otherwise, they will pay the price I set for my ores, or the items I make with my ores. I will base this price on rarety with the added value of the effort I put into leveling a class that cannot group, thus is slow and lonely leveling.
Anyone who dislikes my prices for my time and effort has options. Buy elsewhere, level it themselves and get a tase of it, or shut up and pay up.
We do not need nor deserve any NPCs in to regulate prices unless they make leveling a DoH/L as easy as leveling a DoM/W
Are you really complaining about cobalt ore being 5k a piece? And how much do you sell the things you make with that cobalt ore? Much more. You shouldn't be complaining about gil.
Also, you have the possibility to go get the cobalt ore yourself. All classes are open to everyone after all. You think the price is too high? Mine it yourself and sell your extra pieces at a lower price. That's what I do and it works wonders.
