Why do tanks just leave at the start of duties?

right? I got a call from the hospital, got to go~ anything could be the reason they left, most chalk it up to a crappy level synced dungeon to which the healer might not keep you up on the first pull, but real life does happen. The real answer is if tanks being crappy is the problem, then why arent these people rolling as tanks?

You mean like expecting everybody to fall in line with a particular play style or risk getting kicked?

Yes, exactly like that. The only time you should "fall in line" is during progression raiding.

I'd believe you if they didn't just leave at the beginning. Or at the very least, say "oh sorry I overestimated how much time I have, sorry!" but they don't. They just leave because their own interests are more important. And you clearly don't understand the definition of 'coercion'. Not doing something the way it's meant to be done or abusing a system and being punished for it isn't coercion.

And if you suddenly decide you don't want to play, don't queue up for it. No one made you do it. Unless, you want to call roulettes 'coercion' too.

The penalty needs to be longer but that's just my opinion. Course being kicked needs to apply it as well. So tired of players saying "huehuehuehue kick me huehuehue"

Not to mention they eat up the 30min lockout.

So one's gotta ask themselves if they really want to go the trouble of reporting someone who willing ate a penalty, knowing that SE would simply respond with that observation.

Yes, penalties need to be longer. I think an hour would be good, so all the people insisting that waiting an extra half an hour somehow saves time won't have an excuse anymore.

The very idea of a threat of punishment through reporting them if they don't do what you want is the exact definition of coercion. So yes, what I said is exactly what I meant. You want to cause them some form of harm because they didn't do what you wanted by staying even if they wanted to leave.

This is a video game and while I might understand complaints about absolutely abysmal play, I find it laughable you think you have an argument to dictate how people spend their time because of their role. Whether they choose to stay or leave isn't your choice, period.

Well then I should be able to tick a box when I queue that allows me to be queued with people who want to play the game they're logged in to, instead of being too afraid to do a duty that's longer than 15 minutes. Like why play? Why do any of it? Play a single player game so you don't ruin other people's days.

I still can't believe that people prioritize the freedom of impatient tanks over the poor 3-7 other people that are now stuck with one less tank (or no tank at all). How do you justify that?

The only penalty that would work is one that is longer than the play time the tank has. Because if he can play for longer than 1 hr and still has productive things to do outside of dungeon that is at least that long, it still saves time in the end. 40 min of dungeon + 1 hr of crafting/gathering/beast tribe/triple triad/chocobo/hunt after is still longer than 1 hr of those upfront + 20 min of dungeon.

PS. i use 40 min and 20 min, because i feel only the leveling dungeons have such a wide variety of expected runtime which can be predicted right at the start. Expert dungeons, for example, can be a lot longer than normal, but you generally would have to pull first before you can tell how the people performs and how long it will take.
