Because Yoshi mentioned it at PAX and it started a fire.
I have several friends that have recently joined the game as healers, and hearing this attitude (all over, not just here), has them nervous as hell. I tell them their job is to heal. The rest is gravy. Swap into Cleric Stance when comfortable, if just to cast one DPS. Over time you get more comfortable and push it, weaving another in and so on. It's a bonus. Healing is a reactive job, and when you're in Cleric Stance you can't immediately react.
If I'm on AST, I'll be healing, playing cards and dropping a ton of DPS because I'm comfortable with it. If I'm on DRK, only thing I expect out of my healer is to keep me alive. Added DPS is just bonus.
People can do what they want.
Okay, Yoshi talked about it but... the debate remains the same and this is war again.
Because rather than seeing a healer as a functional part of the group, they are perceived as a burden to be carried along for those rare moments the heroic tank and valiant dps actually get into trouble they cannot burst down before they have to engage their brains to do complicated stuff like "fight mechanics" :(
I really wish Yoshi just shut his mouth on his opinion of the healer dps debate. I knew it would suddenly start up some rubbish excuse of "Yoshi said I don't have to so I won't"...
DPS or don't. But if you don't at least attempt to DPS I won't comm you.
Hey do what ever you want, you want to take a beating to your face go for it. If I'm the healer I will heal you but it comes to a point that even a healer can't heal you quick enough if you eating stuff left and right. A dead dps does no dps and I know there are healers that won't raise someone if they keep eating stuff and die. Cause "muh dps" by having to heal/raise them all the time, which at that point your healer dps is not adding to the party is just replacing the dead dps they won't raise.
Doesn't change many things to me honestly.
I love the stance dancing, it's fun and make the healing job more dynamic.
Yoshi P can say whatever he wants, as long as there'll be free moment to make extra dps from healers, well, some healers will took advantage of these.
You're wrong Lexia actually. ^^
I'm not the only one but, trust me, we can be able to dps and save some lives even if they fail some mecanics that does damages.
It's make part of knowing its class very well.
