Is Benediction still worth a 5 minute CD?

My own thoughts far too late - given the power of the other healer kits Benediction should get some sort of love to make the WHM kit slightly better. I wouldn't be opposed to either a CD reduction or the effect just doing more like some combination of giving full MP, TP, and/or removing Weakness as well.

Benediction has a few niche uses in structured groups, not quite so much in PuG style content.

I do agree on the fact that a CRIT EssenDigni can do a similar job as Benediction, and if the tank got Convalescence because the spellgot a potency enhancer...
But show me a case where Lustrate can heal for almost 20k in a single hit...

Beside, with the 3.0 change of lustrate, Benediction stay as the only healing spell bypassing the ClericStance

lustrate> Benediction, 3 non crit, 8k each, 1 min recast for 3.

However the most you need at any kind of pinch is 2. But I think a point is being missed.

WHM is the big healer drop, spamable cure IIs that compare to lustrate, you have to look at the full kit and tera really helps close the gap for panic healing for whm.

I think the biggest appeal to Benediction is spaming DPS, dropping Benediction when tank gets low and keep DPSing.
So if you look at it like that, it is a great DPS tool :3

The only similar thing between Ff14 and FF11 is their name and atmosphere
In term of gameplay, FF14 is much closer to WoW than it is to FF11. So the comparison between these two games makes very little sens.
We could also compare FF13 to FF tactic

Yep, that is really the only big appeal of Bene nowadays. Being able to fully-heal while in Cleric Stance, something the other healers don't have. I don't think lowering the cooldown is going to make it any more better than what it is though. Even PLD Hallowed Ground is not appealing nowadays. Big deal. they don't take damage which means free healer DPS for those seconds.

Living Dead and Holmgang are no big deal with AST/SCH either.

Thats what made dpsing as sch so fun in 2.x though lustrate is more massive now, its just not what it used to

Nothing wrong with it. For general purposes, we have Tetra. Benediction is for the truly "OH GOD NO" moments - a 1>100% guaranteed heal regardless of your stats or any debilitating effects (except immunities), even if in Cleric stance, thus it SHOULD have a drawback.

I've always felt the 5 minute CD on it was a little unnecessary. 3.5 minutes or 4 minutes(210 sec/240 sec) would suffice in my opinion.

That said, it is an awesome 100% instant heal in CS when you are doing DPS and don't have time to properly switch out and get a Cure 2 or something off. With that in mind, it's relatively balanced (but I'd still rather have a bit less CD). ;P

People don't like comparing the original FF MMO to it's successor.. okay.. well..

Benediction used to be 15 minute cool down in FFXIV.

Five minutes feels fine. Five to ten seconds would be great. Stone and aero mage. ( ' w ')b

I don't mind the 5min cd so much as the time delay from cast to heal which results in miss-used benedictions. Fix it so that it's actually instant!

And when it was on a 15 min cool down it was also aoe. In my opinion 2.0+ Bene has never been worth the 5 min cool down, especially since the animation lock can sometimes cause it to backfire if you are trying to use it as an emergency heal. I wish they would change the animation to something shorter.
