Dungeon loot etiquette for Anima weapon grind.

It's entirely fair to roll Need for items you intend to use, regardless if the use is seals, glamour, retainers, or personal upgrades. The only thing that would make you a dick imo is rolling Need solely for the sake of other people not getting the item, and as there's no way to tell WHY someone is rolling Need, that's entirely between you and your conscience.

Of course the caveat with that is don't get upset when other people roll Need in their stuff too. Fair is fair, after all.

If you Need gear you're not going to equip, I'm going to see it as a minor Richard relocation. Most people probably need those seals or whatever just as much as you do and if they don't, the Pass button is there for that reason. However, it's not the end of the world and I won't say a thing about Needing in a random DF group. Needing everything is so common in this game that it's not worth my time to get all worked up about it. Not getting that one piece of gear because someone decided they needed it more than the other group members is just a small delay at worst.

I roll need if 1) I don't care for the group bc lotta wipes/mean(Yeah I'm terrible), 2) other people roll need on their gear, 3) no one asks for specific gear. Otherwise greed.

If you're on the correct Job and have the "need" button available to you, feel free to hit that. There's no reason why you need to explain yourself to others, especially those that say that your gear is better.

I do make one exception but that's just me personally doing it, if I see for example a new player on the same job as me, and this person is wearing let's say 215 gear, I would pass the item that's higher ilvl if needed. I won't kick or scream at people that don't follow that unwritten "rule"

When it comes to greed, I mostly ask at the start of a dungeon if someone needs an item, mostly people respond with "i pass on everything" or "it's free for all".

I like that you ask at least but to be honest, everybody is rolling on everything, even if it's just to gear their retainers or based on their daily mood. I wouldn't worry so much about that.

Need, if they ask and legit need it I'll pass.

My rule has always been if someone specifically asks because they want it for glamour or to actually use it as an upgrade, I'll pass. Otherwise, I will roll need unless I don't need company seals.

I'll Need if the option is available. My reasoning doesn't matter. Dungeon gear has many uses. That said, I will pass if I'm in a leveling dungeon and I'm sharing the Need option with someone who is actually of dungeon level and could use it.

It's pretty much what I'd come up with watching people do it. It used to be that you'd Greed gear that wasn't an upgrade. Everybody had an equal shot at it then. But now it's like the entire playerbase just rolled around in the FYGM fields for nine hours straight. This definitely explains why I can't gear my tank or healer sets with dungeon drops like I should be able to do (my lore is going to umbrites... so many umbrites).

I always say if you actually need x y or z gear for glamour or whatever reason, come on that job. My needing it for seals or desynth is just as legit imo.

But when it comes to low lvl stuff (under 50 usually) I will greed if the other dps in the pt needs it since seals are low and desynth is nearly worthless, if it is heals tho its gonna be mine if I'm on a healing class because if you need it so badly you should have come on your healer.

If you don't say you'd like it you have no reason to expect that anyone else wouldn't take it.

It's more than just gearing, it's seals, desynthesis, glamour, lots of things. You also have a class that you can roll need on, and if SE thought it was unfair to roll need on stuff you outgeared, they would grey out the button.

If you ask nicely for alt class gear and people still need I tend to side-eye them because that's kinda crappy (I've done it in vault before - didn't want to run it with the shit-awful gear my tank had so did it on another levelling and asked tank if they'd pass, nothing dropped but they did agree at least).

If you want pieces for wahtever reason REALLY bad, get a light party together and promise them something else. I run dungeons in premades with my partner all the time because she wants three specific crafters drops to level her desynth. Meanwhile I get lore and freerolling on the other stuff with everyone else who comes, maybe the chance of a minion, and a guarentee that the run will be quick because we're four people who hilariously outgear the place.

The option is there for a reason. Unless someone speaks up to highlight a reason for you to not do so, use it. I'm not going to check your search info at the start of a dungeon to maybe not roll on something becaus eyou might need it.

That said, I'm not doing anything that NEEDS seals or whatever at the moment, so I usually click greed. Doesn't really bother me either way, to be honest.
