I've wanted to go back, been thinking about it so much lately. Just can't see myself doing the whole Abyssea thing, it's the reason I quit. The idea of not partying for hours on end just don't seem like FFXI to me.

Man I miss FFXI back in 2003 when I was noob it was so much more fun back then. I remember doing the mission for Bastok in Dangruf Wadi at maybe Lv. 5-8 w/o a subjob and I met like 4 people on the way through that were around my Lv. and we all partied and could barely take down the mass gob links and not die since we didn't have a healer. That group then led to creating an LS and it was great, but short lived when most of that group quit FFXI by Lv. 50.
First time partying in Valkurm Dunes was just classic the entire time along with South Gustaberg/Beaucidine Glacier/Ru'Aun Gardens.
And I'll never forget when I finally beat Maat on RDM after going 0/3 nuking style and 1/3 melee style at Lv. 70.
FFXIV seems to be missing the little things like this and I think it's related to having a good challenge and either finally reaching a goal with determination or bonding with new players and making good friends to overcome an obstacle.
^ yeah, good memories in ffxi
I'd like to reminisce about the times in FFXI when every other player wasnt QQing about losing exp on dying, or the time it took to level up your job to max level. People just knew it was there and accepted it. for FFXIV, you have to argue with every other person who wants to turn this game into a wow clone. Easy mode go!!!
11 was a great game, the whiners are ruining 14.
I kinda miss FFXI now after playing for 6 years but it died for me at the point they released things like trial of margins and abyssea, not to mention the promathia missions nerf, and i also didn't like the level cap increase above 75. I got lvl90, finished abyssea just to feel like i completed FFXI and now i'm a fulltime XIV player.
My last LS event and also one of the most memorable.
^This is very cool.
I could be wrong but I think you misunderstood that guy/gal's post. There wasn't very many whiners in FFXI, meaning people didn't cry because you lost exp for dieing, people didn't cry because this was hard, or that was hard. People just excepted it, played the game and had fun because that's how FFXI is. Now-a-days people whine and cry about everything, not just when it comes to FFXIV but every game out there. It's not that people are whining and wanting changes, it's just the act of whining period.
/cry i miss ffxi lol
First logging in with my friend sitting next to me.. not realizing there were multiple servers and trying to talk to either other thinking we had'd popped up yet.. Then an hour trying to get on the same server until someone was nice enough to lend the money for a pass.
Running out into saruta baruta for the first time with the same friend. Seeing a yagado someone had zoned and finding out it agroed as it chased his little taru butt down XD.
After getting to level 10 or so we ran into a galka monk who said "hey, lets go to jeuno, i heard you can make lots of gil there from my higher level friends..." So we ran up sticking the the path and staying safe until we got to the raptors. It was like a scene from Jurassic park, one came up and one shotted him, me and my friend scattered, it chased him and i kept running. I ran towards one of the towers in the landscape and rounded a corner to meet another one head on lol.
The trains in the crawlers nest when someone would train all the mobs from the bot up. I remember once i made about 10k gil in donations as my paladin (was leveling there) to run in, ulti and take them as far down as i could.
Running around when i first did a lot of cloth crafting upgrading peoples gear in the jungle for free (usually +1ing or better).
First time getting slaughtered by the sea horror... and second... and third lol.
Seeing the pirates attack the ship for the first time... that was truly epic... and i died.
Going to sky and playing in the "foot steps" room for the first time.
Doing promy missions with a ton of archers with striders trying to keep all of the mobs trained so the slower people could go through.
My first drg burn party, my first archer burn party, sam burn party... various other burn parties as a brd..
And this isn't even including all the time i spent with friends doing quests or goofing off as i managed to get most of my jobs to 75 and the rest 50+.
So many good times, probably why i played the game for so many years. And also why i keep onto hope that this game will at least create some good times as well.
I forgot to add best funny memory was when i started my EGLS. ( Knights of Diabolos ) Diabolos server.
Might be able to look it up on the LS community on the XI/POL page. The pic is there of this if ofcorse the LS is still on there.
Our 2nd trip in dynamiss sandora 30 seconds left to farm , no silver pieces were droping , then the last mob we kill drops one and we warp out i was like OMFG NUUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then a LS member was like do you need this it droped to me and was the silver piece i was like OMFG thankyou lmao.
1st NM i camped was de mea the punisher i remember spending hours fighting RMTs for the pop and drop.
or on my BLM back in the old school days at vally of sorrow , i was the last man standing no MP left and we agroed a raptor i busted out my syth and killed it with 2 hp left lol
Orhow about 1st leveing anda damn gob cast dia on you and it never whent away. or geting posioned and haveing 1 hp left lol Classic i miss 11. But i like 14. Just hope it will become what we all hope it will become
I got myself removed from XI shortly after the release of Abyssea. I loved the game until then and I severely miss it. I've been thinking of going back as well, but I don't know if I could start over again, especially since, from what I hear, not much is going on in terms of low level things anymore. No parties, garrison, nothing...
