I think a lot of people would have responded the same way no matter who posted it. With that said...you sort of opened yourself up for critique given how vocal you were with other threads that you've created. Many of which contradict precisely what you're posting here.

Probably about the same: you have people dying to add a race to the game that is from a different FF world. This leads inevitably towards the fanboys and fangirls arguing for it, and the people who either don't want it, or are just sick of reading the same post reiterated ad nauseam will argue against it.

Personally, I am 100% against Viera because they are an Ivalice race. The races of FFXIV (sans Au'Ra) are upgraded versions of the FFXI races, as FFXIV is the new MMO that is succeeding FFXI, so I find the original selection of races appropriate, and feel that any new races should be unique like Au'Ra, and not imports from other worlds. That's just my traditionalist tendencies though. I also agree with the point that adding a 3rd demihuman seems kind of pointless atm, and would love more variety on existing races.

Since there is as of now no official 2016 census I looked at the 2015 one.

AuRa make up less percentage than Roegadyn at that point.

So why would the devs go to all the trouble of making a new race ?

I would love to see new races , but it must be disheartening for devs .

I agree , but that is from SE own census post on the lodestone.
And I would guess those are the figures they look at when making decisions.

I would love to see 2016 figures , but no such luck so far.

If these stats are from all characters ever characters created, please remember all spambots are hyur males, and a huge number of characters were created before Au Ra existed, especially at the time this was taken

In response to OP Topic: No they shouldn't have.

Regarding the current chatter: Personally just based on my experience and looking around, I've definitely seen an up-swing in Au Ra and Elezen PCs. Don't see as many Lalas as of late by comparison.

I rather have more customization options for what we have as well.

Not really a fan of viera, rather they add something original if they're gonna add a new race.

This and add to the fact that in order to even make an Au Ra, you require Heavensward to have been purchased.

I agree with all on the doubts on those figures , but the point remains that SE will use their own data to make decisions on what to do .
And the effort spend does not look worth their time when looking at those figures.
