It's not the game mode that sucks.

lol pvp in FFXIV is so boring. Go play more action battle style MMOs and you will see that what im saying is true. Turn based combat is for PVE not PVP. FFXIV's PVP is mostly made up of BLMs casting sleep and SMNs bursting down the competition... There are no counter attacks or spell blocking skills that can reflect the damage back at your opponent... No real reaction that could put your bursty opponent to his/her knees because you were able to counter attack... all you end up seeing is mobs ganging up on single targets and groups being put to sleep by a single target.... not a whole lot of fun..... 90% of the time you are running from point A to B then from B to C...ect.... its boring.... We need a better combat system to be up to par with other popular mmo's.
But she's right about BLM sleep though. It should be nerfed.
And what games' pvp have you played? You're the one coming up with an opinion into fact based on nothing. They are right; and it shows in how few people that play this game play its pvp. If anything the only thing to point out about their statements is that they're completely off-topic; this isn't a thread debating whether this game has good pvp or not.
I dunno what else to tell you but the fact is queue times are longer than 45 mins for PVP and has been that way since the beginning of 3.0. The over all pvp experience is boring and in my OPINION I give it a 3 out of 10. The current battle system just doesnt go well with PVP. GC based groups is not going well and it only makes the queue time worse.... Dont get me wrong the maps are gorgeous all the way around hence why I give pvp a 3 out of 10 and not 1 out of 10 but that is all that PVP has to offer in this game. So yes I know what I am talking about.... And to be honest DC Universe Online has a way better pvp system and thats not a really a good thing.
In my opinion, staying at base in hide is an excuse for being afk. You have to help your party by participating in team fights and staying with your team and do as much damage on ice to try to get as mich points as possible. And as a Ninja you'd rather need to go Hide near enemy bases, not your own base. What if it happens that nobody will come for your base? You'll just be staying there at your base, bringing nothing to the group. I have kicked people because of that and the fact that enough people agree on kicking shows there's multiple people who think the same way.
Perhaps I should have been clearer of what I meant lol.
You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to FFxiv PvP. Going as far as calling it turned base lmao. The main reason queue times are long is mainly because majority of the players in this game don't want to be challenged to any degree, at all and believe to only be a PvE game. Queue time is also based on the GC you're in, had hella fast queues in other GCs, instant - 10min. I agree the gc thing is dumb, and has already been acknowledged by many. Why not try Feast???
There are numerous ways to counter burst and cleanse/nullify CC, you'd actually have to PvP(in ffxiv) to know this though. So no, you don't know what you're talking about. Your opinion is irrelevant especially since you base the entirety of FFxiv PvP off your minimal, baseless, poor experience.
P.s. What is with all these non-pvp'ers joining PvP discussions? Go back to talking about your woes about expert dungeons and glamour.
Can we stay on subject? Start another thread if you want to talk about PvP in general. In fact, more appropriate threads for that discussion already exist.
I think this sums up my opinion on the subject pretty well. There is absolutely no reason for you to stay at the base at the start of the match, you're actually hindering your team doing that. You might consider it if it is made obvious other teams have players going for it (just as you should be going for their outposts at the start of the match as a ninja) or at some specific moments when opportunities open for other teams and losing your outpost would put you behind.
So basically, yes there are moments where you want to defend, but don't do it 100% of the match, you're not helping your team that way.
