Instead, 1.0 players were instructed to assemble in the final hour at Camp Brittlebark, a now gone 1.0 aetheryte camp in the equally gone southern portion of Mor Dhona, and fight wave after wave of high-level Garlean soldiers and magitek vanguards (and that was assuming you weren't booted off the server with an error code due to 1.0's unstable server infrastructure, which is what happened to me). This was actually a feint to distract Garlean reinforcements and stop them from reaching the main (inaccessible) fight at Carteneau and overwhelming the Main Host outright and winning the battle for the Garleans.
Ultimately though it ended in failure, as the reinforcements managed to eventually reach the main host in the final moments anyway, which then led into the events of the End of an Era/A New Beginning/Flames of Truth trailers. 1.0 players were just a diversionary tactic during the Calamity, they didn't actually fight at Carteneau - that fighting was done by enlisted Grand Company troops from the three citystates, thus making it rather moot.
