It doesn't have effect on the game itslef for YOU. I enjoy it, it does effect my game a lot if I have to spend much more than a monthly fee in order to enjoy the game.

And it's not that I don't want to "spend money on something", because I pay to play I already spend money on something in the first place.

I don't want to spend extra money in order to enjoy the game.

if you were enjoying a game before they did it
and all of a sudden you cant enjoy it cuz you cant have something

that sounds like a personal issue rather then something to do with the game itself

Roleplayers are the whiniest lot when it comes to this type of stuff, since it doesnt affect the actual gameplay AT ALL, people who only care about gameplay aspects themselves wont care

but anyone who falls into the camp of "if i cant have it no one should" usualy seems to be the ones who complain the most about it when its a non gameplay item
and i hate to say it, you sound like one of those types

"omg he has a pet, that does obsolutely nothing, but its cute and i want it but i refuse to pay 3 dollars to get it, therefore no one should be allowed to buy it and it should br given to everyone free"

That's not what I'm saying (and I don't roleplay at all so no idea what you mean)

And I never said we should have it free.

They could make actual content to get a cute pet in the game than a cash shop.

How does it not affect gameplay? By that logic, anything graphical in game is meaningless and should be cash shoped.

they should have content that rewards this stuff too
but that doesnt mean its not ok to make cash shops for stuff also

if your against it, thats fine, i understand what it means to be against this type of thing, all that means is that you do not have to get it
but to say you can no longer have fun because you cant have something is just plain rediculous, thats the way 5 year olds view things

I didn't say I can no longer have fun. I said that in order to have fun just like you (who care for gear) do, I'd have to pay MUCH more than you. And that is not fair how I see it.

I guess I am five years old now.

One of two options

1) cash shop, but free to play game

OR

2) no cash shop, and a monthly fee.

Anything that does both of these is being cheap for the sake of greed. Don't encourage it. I was hoping to see FFXIV go completely f2p a la Guild Wars, but after spending so much money on making the game better, that seems pretty unlikely.

maybe it should have some event items that we missed, like the eggs hats i missed the event but would like to buy it
or stuff like server/name change, hairstyles, tatto ..etc

These type of features always lead to completely ridiculous items that have no place in the game. i.e. Angel Wings, Outfits from Famous characters in other game, and those stupid headbands with pompoms on springs..

server transfer - it's a service that can be provided for a fee regardless whether there's a cash shop or not, the two are not inherently tied together.

character name changes - shouldn't be allowed anyway

race changes - don't care

also, really, EVERY mmo has a cash shop eh? not sure if serious, lol.


personally I don't believe a subscription-based games should double-dip with a cash shop, as it can diminish the perceived value of the subscription and push the game devs. towards a rather unfavorable development focus.

ultimately it boils down to how the company wants to monetize their service
