Perhaps a Simple DRK Solution

If B4B was "take x damage over x seconds" instead of "take more damage" it would be a lot more managable. However your also probably going to be out of grit so you will be taking a LOT of damage.

I honestly feel like DRK should have Lancer and Marauder and Gladiator cross-classable. Blood for Blood would be good, but not for tanking.

Actually.. Blood for Blood would be AMAZING for Dark Knight... Living Dead would actually work a lot better.

Well SE could stop the debate by give each job 3 classes to take cc from with 2 more slots (1 at 60 and and 1 at 70) in 4.0. Thought ?

I would like to see Shade shift become a cross class for Drk.

What leads you to believe this? Having BfB would encourage DRK to stay in Grit while MT. While in Grit+Darkside+BfB you are (+5% in +5% out damage) while in Darkside alone you are (+0% in +15% out damage). The difference is that BfB has the benefit of not costing any MP and not costing a GCD to revert back to the tanking stance. Further, you would not ever want to use BfB outside of Grit while MT as you would have +25% damage incoming. DRKs niche among the tanks is its ability to do the most damage while in its tanking stance, this change only improves upon that.

I ran some back of the envelope numbers using parsing data from the reddit page on tank parsing in 3.2 and found something interesting. The data is a 3 min parse and had the theoretical ceiling for WAR at around 980 dps with 924 for DRK (that includes 10% slashing debuff for both w/o DRK is at 840). Using these numbers and adding in the effects for BfB it brings DRK up to around 955. Parsing data on a dummy is actually a decent representation of OT potential. While I agree DRKs Delirium problems with Dragonkick need to be addressed, this change would help close the damage gap that WARs have over the other two tanks in the OT slot making other combinations more viable.

BfB can be good for OT role yes this is very true. Of that no one should disagree. Besides a DRK is known for taking those big risks and BfB would fit in nicely.

However I don't think Crossclass skills are going to change. I've always kinda hated the fact if they are crossclass then you should be able to choose from any of them. The limitation of 2 specific crossclass trees is quite irritating and limited selection of skills as well.

Adding a Trait for Salted Earth to decrease INT or give some kind of enhancement when players stand inside the circle would help utility for DRK. Maybe next expansion we will see more traits for all jobs.

Maybe...Enhanced Salted Earth - Now receives a beneficial effect when under the effects of Dark Arts. Grants a regen potency (of 50 or 100?) when the DRK stands inside their own circle. (Only affects the caster.)

OR

Enhanced Salted Earth - Now receives a beneficial effect when under the effects of Dark Arts. Grants (5%?) magic defense to all party members inside the circle.

The fact a lot of skills that should benefit from Dark Arts either should or get a passive potency buff while under the effect of Dark Arts until it is expunged. But really shit like Salted Earth, Sole Survivor and more need DA effects. Only HW skills to do this were AD and CnS.
