The way they worded the Novice Network it makes it sound like a glorified chat channel that only mentors and new players can enter. Given how low the prerequisites are to become a mentor I wonder how long it would take for an RMT "veteran" to invite a newly made rmt chat spammer to enter the Novice Network?

As I stated before, throwing in all the rewards at the start will very likely have a rush of players swarming in and rushing the system just to get the shiny things and then bugger off once they get them all, leaving new players to fend for themselves. Those that really want to help others will do so without the need of a reward. You'd also be quite wrong to assume LV60 players never touch the leveling roulette since I have ran it many times before for the tomestones or boredom. And hey, at least it's not Satasha spam anymore.

Whats your point exactly? This is a cool thing for those that help.... who cares if someone want's the shiney stuff then leaves has no effect on new players. Stop trying to put a negative spin on something that has literally no relevance.

I'm just saying the reason why the rewards are being stalled. If you want to blame someone for looking at the negatives in the mentor system, blame the devs for pushing the rewards back for the reasons I stated.

Again who cares about the rewards, if there was just a title just as many people would do it for that then never touch it again. Again has no effect what so ever on new players. There will always be people to help out, even now there are people that help new people. So again, why does someone need to be blamed for a system that doesn't really affect anyone?

I completely agree with you. I played ACN as SMN & SCH to 50 then mained as SCH to 60. When I went through the SMN 50-60 quests it didn't prepare me at all for playing in reality. I am looking forward to Stone, Sea, Sky just so I can learn SMN properly, there's no way I could run a dungeon & not feel partly carried. A mentor system at lvl60 would be ideal for me.

so if my question is i'm lv 60 whm (been playing for few yrs was never interested in other job) just recently started to try others jobs can I get mentor to help me? I tried to find guides on how to play my classes well at low levels a lot or few guides are just like spam whatever skill or no info really. I feel like I have to search all over the place for helpful info... my hope is someone like me who been playing can learn from a mentor.

So alternating between ice and fire -- which is the whole idea of the job at the very basic level -- somehow makes them ice mages which, in turn, implies they never leave ice and don't even know the basics, makes returning to basics a bad idea?

No, it can only be used by characters who have less than 40 hours played (sproutlings). That brings up another question, why the high requirements? I'd have thought this system would be teach level 60s how to play properly, but it's for sproutlings and it would take them longer than 40 hours to reach level 60. Why would someone need to have completeed 1000 instances and have 3 roles at level 60 to tell someone how to unlock the ability to dye their clothing? Here's to hoping they lift the 40 hour limitation and open it to anyone who wants a mentor.

@colorful thanks I must have missed the sprouting info while skim reading without glasses... well I'm disappointed guess I will have to struggle through learning the old fashion way.. I really wanted a mentor.

Most "ice mages" don't use ONLY ice spells, that's an exaggeration. What I meant was all the BLMs who still actually use Blizzard I to change to Umbral Ice and then sit there casting Blizzard I for a while even at max level. And similar situations in other jobs.
