Looking at your character, i dont think you have any clue on the current state of the game. Not even a char lvl 60 means that you are really new to the game, or havent played it in a long time.

They should just remember their golden rules.

fun is subjective. some people enjoy grinding.
Last patches since HW have proven that quality and innovation wise, the game is in a serious debacle... A free fall actually...
Textbook MMORPG 101 time already passed, ARR did a good job setting up the foundations for the game, Heavensward was supposed to bring new exciting stuff to the table and introduce new game system, changes and innovation to finally take off as new generation MMORPG based on said solid foundation. What we got was just a re-skin of content, a change of location which, when broken down to game systems, is nothing else but just extra locations. All dungeons have the same mechanics we have seen the past 2 years, gear and character progression was exactly the same, new classes had nothing new to offer aside diferent skill names and animations... Not even hyped content as Airship and Exploratory Missions seem to take off from the textbook content... And the last two patches, including today`s 3.15 just confirm a +2 years old trend...
This game will never offer anything remotely new or exciting. This is it, this is what Final Fantasy XIV is and will ever be. This kind of content is the best we can hope for, and this level of polish and delivery is the best we will ever get. Unless the game goes through another team change which i find it hard, nope, nothing new to see here.
So, no, its not near the end of its life, but playerbase needs to realize already that this game is like this and will never be diferent, there is no hoping anymore, they will add more class, more locations, more levels, more gear, but all will just be the same content with diferent labels and colors from what we already have, nothing else. In 4 years and 2 more expansions those who still arround, will be doing fate grinds to get i600 relic weapons with a cooler name and more complex desing in a new location, but after 6 years, will be exactly the same experience than it was past year.
For me, i find it hard to stay subbed to a game that already gave everything it could, again is not bad, its pretty much a top 5 between the market offers right now for MMORPGs, but it got old, i have been subbed just for hoping, but thats dead now too... This is the Final Fantasy XIV experience and won`t change.
totaly agree, i think some will take anything u throw at them, i remember a game where, u needed 1 year to advance 1 level, grinding 4-5 hours a day. that level even didnt give any new gear or stats, nor did it require u do to under take any new challange but they still did it.
maybe the dev team needs fire under their bums like after the disaster of 1.0. I have my 3 month cycle ending and will not renew. I say we vote with our wallets. B/c enough is enough. I would think the new anima weapons would tie into the heavensward lore... doesn't look like it. just a long boring grind. i knowi have a choice and i choose not to support content in 315
Well for me it's starting to feel more like a Co-Op Action Platformer than an MMORPG. Niche'd Pvp, (increased) lack of itemization, increasingly predictable iLVL gear rollout.. pvp..
That's probably what will have me move on from FFXIV. PvP is becoming more and more of a prominent feature of other MMOs and I don't think that's something SE is capable of duplicating.. At least not at the competition's quality. But I'm still here for now..
In 3.2 they'll be making adjustments to how Tanks deal damage and materia melding > +crafted gear. I want to see what the do with that. But it could be the last straw..
I don't know if this game is dying. But I know my interest in it is. I can keep busy when I log in, but my enthusiasm is gone.
