No, they're not. They're people who don't feel the need to fawn over internet 'celebrities'. Something being 'mainstream' doesn't mean it's necessarily good but then again I'm not sure how a guy making videos for FFXIV is 'mainstream' in the first place.

That just furthers the point. What I said was in response to the guy saying that he didn't like how the method happy posts becomes the meta.

It becomes the meta because it works.

My point wasn't that he created the method himself. The point was don't complain that people want to use a strategy that works when you can't come up with anything better on your own.

Its cool. To each their own. I'll keep using Happy's guides to clear content and you can keep trolling the forums in your fedora and perscriptionless raybans.

Except a lot of the time, people stick to his 'plan' because they don't know any better. There are times in 2.0 where we had a different strategy, and people would just say "That's not the mr.happy strategy."

I actually gave him the benefit of the doubt - I made the statement that despite his best efforts to say that this isn't the only strategy, people treat his word/guides as gospel.

Further, if you want my other issues with him, it comes down to how much he seems to talk in his guides. While not usually a bad thing, it seems like he tries to overexplain and loses his general focus. His guides are good for getting a general idea, but the ones that are more concise - like Xeno or MTQ - are my preference.


and I've no idea why some people are so defensive over an internet personality. Why does his in/fame(y) affect you at all? People are allowed not to like someone. It does not make your or anyone elses appreciation of him any less valid.

No different than any other server. Though throwing out baseless insults is easy - I don't feel the need to drop myself down to that. If you have a problem, state it clearly and you'll get a lot more respect. :)
