Right because selling mats is beneath your skills? I thought you wanted to make gil on regular basis selling mats is how you do that easily with minimal effort. Not to mention augments are a mat you hand in.
And people unlocked them when they were relevant not when they we are in general 10 levels higher and pushing ilvl180+
You unlocked them recently from what I gather so I can't even say you put any time or effort into unlocking them either in comparison to myself and other crafters I know. Expecting gear that has served it's purpose to still cost lots of gil is ridiculous.
Either step up, accept that you are behind the curve and won't make 'mad gil' off end game recipes or quit. Any choice is valid and perfectly acceptable.
Yes but your still missing the point. Regardless of my gil making, Making it throwing it away, making it giving and trash selling it to a shop is all irrelivant. The problem I have is EVERY CRAFT BELOW LEVEL 50 is now USELESS!!!!!! All this time developing crafters for the luxuary of being able to make these items all for it to be taken away by retainer ventures. It's a nerf that wasn't needed. As they nerfed the way to get the books too. Something I have had for months. I didn't mind this. But the Ventures and this are absolute overkill.
All people can say is quit on this game. No wonder the game is in a mess, I'm here talking about my experiences in the game and all people can say is Quit. The end of the day, I've spent the majority of my gametime crafting, Nice to see your game is all fine and fucking dandy but mine is not. It's been ruined by people not researching the game. If they looked on the MB and seen that level 50 stuff was still a viable way to make gil but we could give newer crafters the ability to make them easier, by giving them the books easier is perfectly fine. Giving all the crafts to retainer ventures is not okay. It completely voids the game and makes it worthless for any crafter to spend Fieldcraft Demi 3 on a book to craft something when all they need is a venture. It's absolutely stupid!
One thing I had to finally just accept was the fact that what is bleeding edge today will be obsolete in a few short patches down the line. I don't like it but I had to accept it or move on.
You have to stay current if you want to reap the benefits. To make the gil to stay current you may have to gather and then craft some 'unfun' (to you) materials.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean about ventures, its not like you can send them out and tell them to bring back some awesome crafted item. It is random, very random. I have 8 retainers and never have they brought me items that would bring the crafting world to its knees..
Also, also. Ventures are not "For Free". I have to get venture tokens somehow and quick ventures are 2 each. I have to work to get the ventures and then deal with the randomness of what the retainer brings back to me.
Ventures are easily obtainable if you do your dailiy expert and then greed on all the armor. There's your venture coins. And like I have mentioned in above comments. I cannot craft any of the new stuff except Culinarian stuff *Which they also neglected to give anything new to* I don't have the stats. I can't farm new armor. (I have the crafted level 60 stuff, But it's not enough to make anything "Sky Pirate"). Also. There reasons again, for giving every single craft item that people have leveled and worked on for months away to a one hour retainer venture is very disrespectful of players like me who depend on these crafts to make a little gil. I've never ever had over 10m at one time. Only time I've ever had decent money of the game was though red script materials. Which I bought a Wrapped Culinary Knife. I have tried. But everything I seem to do is undone by stupid nerfs desgined at giving new players an easier ride so they can sting them for money for longer. This is the truth.
As one of those mid-50s crafters at the moment, I can say that I enjoyed the process of leveling, found it was good to help build airships for the FC using the crafting recipes I'd learned. I've noticed that it is fairly easy (although not immediate) making level 54+ HQ gear and selling it ... not millions, but at least a million over a week's time. You should definitely get gathering up there (mine are all at 60 now) in order to provide the mats for crafting.
I like the level 50 Master recipes because they allow me to make some really nice glamour gear (augmented tabard of aiming) for myself. (And craft airship repair parts, of course). Other than that?
I'm in no hurry, nor do I have a 'gil goal' that I must absolutely make. After all, if the game feels like a second job, why bother?
