The impression of your post is that you are not having fun fishing. Most of your suggestions will make it less funnier job. The only thing i would agree with you will be tacklebox just for have more order and less bait space to can later use with more fish.Quote:

If I didn't have fun catching fish, I simply wouldn't do it. I don't know how my suggestions make the job less fun. Giving us more abilities, allowing us to utilize our abilities more, allowing us more choice and more opportunity... this removes fun from it?
Anyway, I'm going to quit commenting on the thread. Simply stated, the posters here don't agree and believe the job is 100% fine, up to par with BTN and MIN, has very limited RNG that is widely accepted and makes the game fun. That is well within their right of opinion. I don't think I'll ever come to that viewpoint. I enjoy fishing, but I still feel it has several flaws. I listed them through my passion for the job. I'll continue fishing, and I'll continue seeing the same problems. Maybe I fish more than everyone else, or maybe I take it more serious than most people.

I'd like to see a greater amount of bait targeting like XI had, where you could usually narrow down your catch at a spot to two or even one fish by putting the right nibbly tidbit on the hook. Outside a few locations in XIV, you'll end up hooking many of the fish at a given hole no matter your selection. There's more targeting now with the blue scrip baits aiming at scrip-trading fish to bypass a mooch or whatever, but hopefully they expand on it.
Really really fed up with rng being in EVERYTHING! I have to show up at the right time..for the right weather. Have complete red scrip gear. Still the fish gets away. Then when rng finally allows me tocatch it i have to hope rng lets me even turn it in..have over 30 thunder eels i cant turn in because axotl has been the requirement for 5 days in a row. Not everything has to be rng. They coulda alternated days
I got my HQ catkiller in one cast, so I'm getting a kick out of this thread.
I'd be happy if they just removed this stupid and excessive RNG from fishes that you ACTUALLY need.
I dont care that it takes way longer to reel 1 fish than to mine 5 ores. But if a specific fish is needed for a craft or something, I should be able to narrow it down by using the right bait, weather and time. Currently how it is now, even with all tree parameters set right, you still get A LOT of unwanted fish.

Just want to drop by to support your thread and I completely agree with it. There are a lot of things need to look at, but i don't think the devs would even bother to look at.
I would add one more point to the massive fishes that are worthless. They always said they have a problem with server data and other stuff, so why are they still making worthless things and still excuse for that reason?

Fishing is not calm and relaxing it infuriating.
I think SE should make every type of fish in the game used for something even if they allowed like an aquarium or pool as housing crafted item to keep chosen fish in for viewing pleasure...maybe a wall plaque option to show off the biggest fish ever caught or something, most fish though in this game do not have any use currently. I am also not a fan of double mooching, single mooching is fine but more than that when already have weather+bait+limited time periods+RNG+stats required on top feels too much for my liking...specifically when a lot of the fish which require such aren't worth the effort.
Other than that for the most part fishing is one of the more enjoyable aspects of this game to me and I do find it mostly relaxing but the pointlessness of so many fish needs to be addressed and the annoyance of double mooching (when in combination with all the other factors I mentioned above) I think should be improved. I would also like a fishing funny outfit added to the game like giant fish costume for players who catch every type of fish or catch an epic sized fish etc. A fishing competition of some sort or competitive mini game added to gold saucer would also be cool.
Other than what I just mentioned above, fishing is fine in this game in general. Another thing just thought of which could be improved is a more balanced type of fish listings in each fishing spot, some have few types which increases the chance of catching specific ones a lot but others have more than double or triple the amount of types present. What I would suggest is a more equal sharing of fish types per location. Fishing even without these changes however is still the most enjoyable of the gathering classes to me.
only problems I have as a fisher :
=> Patience buff wearing off, removing the possibility to power/precision hook BUT still retains the botched rates. meh.
=> the hard caps on big fishing and legendary fishing. My lv60 fisher shouldn't have the same 5% chance to get a fish than a lv50 fisher, because his percep and gathering are way higher now.
=> the 15% HQ is slightly annoying for double mooch but other gatherers have it too. I'd like it to be upped a bit but if not that's fine. There aren't that many double mooch fish anyway
=> moving removes all of your buffs, wasting all of your TPs. No. Or remove the possibility to move when your rod is casted. That's just annoying.
