If singles are "worth" more, then why aren't people selling it that way more often instead of the near limitless bundles I always see?

I think the reasons why retainers are your market vehicle as opposed to just uploading the items yourself is for privacy reasons. If the item is crafted, you can usually see who made it at the bottom if you preview it.
