Scholar possible buffs

I think healers are all in a good place - whilst these SCH buffs might improve QoL they aren't necessary to clear content nor would it make content dramatically easier.

SCH is the most cemented healer spot in progression because of its utility for sustained DPS and healing.

After reading through everyone's responses, I've at least come to appreciate my own class more. :> The point that Eye for an eye + deployment tactics (on all 8 people) and Dissipation could be better still stands. I never meant to say that Scholar was weak, more so that the skills I complained about could be better with certain changes instead of in the overly situational state they seem to be in. I just want to add that while party wide E4E and dissipation are situational now.. i imagine SE created them for future use more than for our current content ^^ like lots of people have said SCH is in a very good place right now, and just like most classes the full use of our new skills are still uncertain right now.

The only thing I want to see changed is Dissipation, and even that would need to be done carefully to not upset the other healers. Lustrate is perfect as is, and Deployment Tactics is niche but has its uses even with E4E. Just enjoy playing one of the top healers for now. No matter how much they buff our healing, we're still going to be in cleric 80% of the time. ;p

The only thing I'd really like to see is an improvement to Dissipation. It's excessively situational outside of using it for dps or your fairy is already dying.

Alex 3 normal when add gets to edge... so far only I know. Could have imagined it pretty comfy in turn 7 (which now no longer is progressive content I know) for allagan venom. I assume if the adds hit the edge in Savage A3 it won't be esunable...

Just consider Scholar's theme - it's a tactician by nature and it's there to lead and heal a small contingent of Marauders. By it's design, it's meant to have tools that are limited and meant to be used tactically.

Aetherflow controls Lustrate, Sacred Soil, Indomitability, Energy Drain, and Bane. You get three per minute and you need to determine the best time to use those resources in each minute. Scholar also has a large array of situational cooldowns - Eye for an Eye, Virus, Deployment Tactics, Emergency Tactics, every single Fairy Cooldown. Some abilities in this massive list are your bread and butter, others are your "Well, if this happens, I can respond with this" button. Play it as such and don't think it's the same as playing a WHM or AST.

By its design - Scholar's resource management is less about the MP like it is for WHM and AST and more about managing your MP and cooldowns for maximum efficiency. Scholar has an "everything is situational toolkit".

Dissipation is weak but I do like sacrificing my fairy when it annoys me.

However, the real buffs I want are to how the fairy controls. I'd like heel to work with a friendly target so I can have it follow someone else (and don't have to constantly place her). Also, if I manually cast embrace on someone the fairy will prefer to heal that target in the future. I'd kinda like it if she didn't heal other targets and just keep healing that target. I'd also like to get rid of her only healing a target that's less than 80% health. Or may bump it up to 90% so she starts healing sooner.

I dunno. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong but my thumb hurts (I have a razor naga) from having to micro my fairy's embrace.

Yes, as an FC we've talked about it, we all share the same complaints with sch over our other healers, so this is what we came up with. Educated feedback is appreciated.

Rather than giving us a "eh, you're stupid" response try giving an intelligent one that might actually help us understand your view of sch. Ours are different. Doesn't mean it's stupid.

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing on the other healers.

So in a raid environment: sch brings sustained, high dps for a healer on single targets. On multiple targets (A2S) the only way you can describe sch dps is utterly filthy high. Facilitating this dps is the other 2 core mechanics of the SCH: Fairy and Aetherflow.

The fairy in of itself is very powerful. Embrace once every GCD. Multiple cooldowns to facilitate either higher healing (fey illumination, whispering dawn), powerful utility/mitigation (fey covenant, selenes aoe clense) and high party buff utility (fey wind). The fairy can be placed on the field of battle, making your healing ranger greater than any other healers. The fairy can be used to heal 2 targets with single target, fairly powerful healing spells (one from SCH, one from fairy). The fairy is uneffected by cleric stance. Also, the fairy can pretty much solo heal ex dungeons, making it so the SCH can dps a lot.

Now for Aetherflow. Behind these stacks lie some of the most powerful healing abilities in the game. We have lustrate, a powerful single target instant cast healing ability. Very powerful. We have Indomnibility, aoe instant cast heal, stupidly powerful. We have energy drain, great for weaving in as an oGCD in clerics for more damage, also restores mana. We also have sacred soil, which, apart from some niche raid circumstances, has been over shadowed by indom to a great extent.

SCH and mana issues are pretty much non-existant. With Aetherflow every 60 secs and the ability to use Energy Drain, mana is not an issue too much.

Mitigation is perhaps overlooked by many people, but its powerful, esp on SCH. The ability to mitigate damage via adlo or critadlo is so powerful in a raid environment. The ability to deploy these abilities makes them even more powerful. Preventing the damage from happening in the first place>>>>>healing people up after the damage. And with mitigation on SCH we have adlo (critadlo), succor, sacred soil, supervirus, eye for an eye and fey covenant.

The 3.0 lvl 50-60 abilities have done nothing but made the SCH power felt more, especially in raids. Aoe instant heal, dps nuke spell, deploying adlos, making shields heal instead of shield and murder the fairy (dissapation is in fact very powerful in raids, increasing dps via energy drain and getting the group through that last little bit of the fight where everything has been going wrong due to learning the fight).
