Concerns about the Chaos datacenter decisions

As you can see from the image the OP posted they were not always marked as such. Back when we had to pick servers - as I said above - the servers were marked as NA/EU - and SE also made it clear back then that there was no plans to make a EU Data center. In the last year plans have changed, leaving many EU's who have been begging for a EU Data Center for 2+ years now - with a choice of stay on a server that was clearly marked NA/EU when they transferred originally or pay. Even Ragnarok was marked NA/EU.

Since you only started a few months ago - this is not an issue you would have seen or had to deal with back at the start of 2.0 - so you are very lucky.

I agree - as long as the transfers are going to or off of Chaos - I don't see an issue.

Aah! I see! :) Yeah, it's quite clearly marked now.

I rolled US anyway, as i assumed there'd be a lot of language on the EU servers, and I'm a bit homesick, so it's nice to talk to Americans. :p

Yeah like I said people starting now are lucky, not as unclear as back then~! :) That's why people are a bit upset over it and I can totally understand why.

Yes they have been planning on making a EU Data Center for about 1 year now - but many people made their choices on servers over 2 years ago before the idea was even brought up by SE. I am a US player on an NA server - but even I feel bad that the EU's don't have a choice to transfer over to a EU data center for free as well.

It would be very easy to do - Only players who are transferring off of or on to the Chaos Data Center can use the free transfer (So if someone wants to go from say - Hyperion to Balmung they won't be able to because that's NA to NA)

I think that it is fair to allow all EU players to have a chance at a better ping, and none of them should have to pay for such an honor since this was not brought to anyone's attention over 2 years ago when the origonal transfer was allowed.

TLDR; It is not an EU players fault that over 2 years ago they picked from servers that were marked NA/EU - with the belief that NO EU Data Center was gong to be created. So it is not fair to make them pay to transfer now. Just open up transfers to everyone but on the strict basis that players can only transfer ON TO or OFF OF the new Chaos data center and NA to NA transfers will not be allowed for free.

Basically anyone who wants to move to or from Chaos server worlds should be able to do so for free the first week after transition.
So far it's only be stated that people can move from the chaos servers in the first week.
This leaves any EU player on the other NA servers ... Paying to move. They should really get a free pass. It's only for a week, this really shouldn't be a problem.

Everyone who supports this requests and hasn't yet, please also show your support in this thread: Suggestion: Allow Free Transfers TO European Data Center :)

I have the perfect solution: Just don't give free transfers to anyone.

No matter if you chose to play on a EU server if you're from NA or visa versa, you made your choice, knowing fully well that things could change in the future. You're from the NA and your ping sucks now? Well, let me cry you a river because this is what EU players had to deal with every day until now.

Just pay your transfer if you want one. Even if everyone got a free transfer, people would still complain for some reason (Nooo, my server will be flooded! Noooo my server will be deserted! Nooo, my future character names will be blocked! Noooo, my favourite bench is taken etc.)

Perople are never satisfied no matter how hard a company tries.

No one seems to be happy about the fact that EU is finally getting it's own data center, instead people are complaining how they have to pay small amount of money for the transfer because they have chosen the server outside their region. Paying 14.00 € won't kill anyone.

Things won't always go the way you want but people are making this whole thing much bigger than it really is. Just deal with it, move on and be thankful for the fact that EU is finally getting it's own data center.

People are complaining because the whole situation is utterly ridiculous and reeks of favoritism. Although it's hard to suspect JP devs in favoring NA players in comparison to EU players, one thing is clear - NA was gives an advantage in this situation. People want fairness, and in this particular scenario we're not asking for a lot - make transfer free for those who want to get on EU servers, not just for those who want to get out. It won't cost SE a single penny, but it would be a large step towards strengthening trust between players and the devs. After all, isn't Yoshi-P all about trust?

Yes, deal with it because there's nothing anyone can do about it at this point. It's free for NA players to transfer from EU servers because their gaming experience will most likely suffer if they stay there. In my eyes it's fair and there's nothing ridiculous about it. Also, like I said, the fee you have to pay for the transfer isn't that big.

People need to take off their tinfoil hats and realise that there's no favoritism here, transfering data center to EU isn't free and SE isn't a charity, it's a company that needs to make money.
