Suggestion: Allow Free Transfers TO European Data Center

Let's be a bit more accurate: It's exactly like Player A has been playing with 100-200 ms ping for 5 years and SE will charge them to drop to <100ms. Player B has been playing <100ms for 5 years and Se will give them a free service to avoid that ever changing.

Worst case for Player B is that they have to have the same level of service as Player A.

Whats not on them, is your decision to not play on a datacenter designated as EU whatever your reasons may have been. Maybe it was friends, or your free company, or just the belief that the server you picked didnt matter. But now, that there is going to be a actual EU datacenter, all those things that made you chose a different server are irrelevant and you feel entitled to a free move? You chose a non designated EU datacenter at your own risk period. It was never a secret that there would someday be and actual EU datacenter, and maybe the amount of active subs hasnt necessitated one until now.

Again, if your not on Chaos, you remain unaffected and therefore are owed nothing. Yes youve been inconvenienced from the start, theres no doubt about that, but you chose to keep playing beyond your free trial, shitty ping included, and you chose a non EU datacenter, thats on you

If Player B was an European on and EU server and wants his ping to be 100-200ms, then yes he gets a free transfer to any NA datacenter to keep his ping the same. On the other side if he decides to stay he would have <100ms now.

This wouldnt apply to Player B being American playing on the EU server. He would have his ping increased from <100ms to 100-200ms, so yes he gets an free transfer or his gameplay worsens.

My reason is that an EU labeled datacentre didn't exist when I made my character. Also, the other datacentres have never been labeled as NA, they were NA/EU datacentres.

By your logic, why are NA players on Chaos owed anything? They chose an EU labeled data centre at their own risk. Why are they owed a free transfer?

So player A pays to get <100ms ping, but player B does not. It's awfully selfish to believe you are owed a free transfer to have a <100ms ping, but others should pay for it.

Because they cant just make your experience worse, without giving you anything in return. But they can offer you upgrades for money.

Dont get me wrong, i'm in no way against a free transfer to EU datacenters, but SE is also trying to make money out of it.

Because NA players, or JP players, or ANYONE on Chaos are having changes forced on them and its SE's decision to do so. Therefore SE as a company, and any company would do something similar, is offering a solution to that. Its just that simple.

I understand why you feel slighted, and Im not trying to argue with you, But if any company takes any action that negatively affects any customers, then said customers are entitled to recompense. Thats just business.

lol, of course they can. Why couldn't they? It's not good customer service, but that hasn't stopped them screwing over the EU playerbase; there's nothing in the EULA that says anything about acceptable ping times

Well we are talking about good business decisions, not how to screw customers.

A good business decision is to compensate customers whos gameplay will worsen. Nothing changes for EU players being on NA servers. They are playing there for years with the same ping and they can keep playing with the same ping, or buy a transfer and upgrade to a better ping.

Isn't it good business to treat your customers the same and not discriminate between them? NA gameplay would worsen to the level of EU gameplay. There's no way you can assert that that is unfair to NA players without conceding that the service offered to EU players was unfair. Why is it fair to expect EU players to be happy with higher pings than NA players? NA players are being given a free ticket to better pings. EU players have to pay for it.

Because the pings changes to the worse for the NA players.

Its about having the same experience before and after the change.
EU players staying on NA servers were expecting no changes, so they stayed on the NA servers since EU made no difference for them. Same goes for the NA players on EU servers. But now the NA players would be screwed over on the EU servers because their ping would go up.

To them, a customer who put up with the ping for 5 years cant be too unhappy or they would have quit already.

Edit: it looks like i'm whiteknighting their decision, which i am not. A free transfer for everyone would of course be the best scenario for every customer, but i can understand their decision to not make it free.
