Of course I do. Generally I try to treat others the way I'd like to be treated myself.
I'd also like to thank those people who do go out of their way to help other players. Getting a rez when you forgot to set your Home point near to where you were questing, seeing your health bar refilling when you thought you were about to die, little things like that make playing a pleasant experience and make you feel part of a community.
Some new sproutling player stuggling to kill some level 3 ladybugs? Yeah I'll toss them a stoneskin or something as I pass by.
Someone asking me to craft 78 HQ frying pans so they can cheat their way to levelling their own crafter? Pass.
I don't help people in the world unless asked.
I try to do as much as I can myself. I dislike relying on others, so I don't try to be a crutch for others unless they want me to be.
Always happy to see people who want to learn and improve.
Always ready to help people learn and improve.
It'd be a welcome change of pace underneath all these people crying about how SE is supposed to make the game easier instead of them stepping up their game.
Modern MMO players have grown disgustingly lazy.
As a newer player I want to say "Thanks!' to everybody who took a few minutes to help me out or to explain some weird mechanic in a boss fight, that believe it or not, videos on YouTube do not do justice too...I mean bismark has to be lived to understand as do many of these end bosses. I try to prepare and I think many of the newer players do by watching video guides on some of our bigger bosses.
I have done both with speed runners who do not have time to wait for you, much less explain anything, to really awesome party members who explain the fights as well as talking about what we had for dinner.
I tend to be more social in these games and love to meet new people. I did not realize when I started playing FFXIV that the coops were instances between worlds, which is sort of sad since I would definitely like to add some of the people I meet in there to my Friends list.
I actually do. I'll whack away at the mob or I'll heal the guy as much as I can and help him kill whatever.
But say, a noobie decides to take on an A or S rank solo? Lemme just wait on the sides to rez him, shouldn't take long :). Dying in this game is a PITA without someone to rez you nearby.
Really all depends on the kind of help they are wanting. Help with a dungeon, sure I'll go as Tank or Healer if I am not currently busy. Want something crafted and your a member of my FC (for a reasonable time) I'll make it up if I got the stuff. If your brand new (and we had one join and ask) for the augments to your job armor but then get mad when I ask for the 600k in mats I ask for in order to make em you can bet I am gonna look at you like your crazy. He even left the guild then the next day asked me again for the the parts!
I was working on my desynth skill for carpentry (almost regret it but meh) was making a ton of weaver spinning wheels and a fresh level 50 weaver asked if I needed em all. Gave her one for free no question, though in hindsight could have gave her one of the HQ ones that came out.
The game has a lot of things to do that really doesn't give much room for helping people for a few hours per day with all the dailies and weeklies... but if Im really bored in a sunday afternoon, sure I don't mind helping because playing the game is reward enough for me...
Like yesterday when I queued by accident in Brayflox Normal with my lvl 60 WAR... not even low roulette (and I had already done it), just shruged and said "why not?" and helped them out :v
if im not busy trying to get something done ill gladly help. though im more likely to help if asked. in dungeons, ill gladly help teach the newbies and wait patiently for cutscenes. I was new not that long ago and people were always so nice with helping me out, its only fair to pass the good will along and keep the good in the community
