Really? You can't find any reason to bring a WHM? The stronger heals and regens aren't appealing? Stronger DPS options aren't appealing? The variety of free oGCD heals (many of which are instant emergency spells) aren't appealing? The ability to use Virus and Eye for an Eye? Nothing?

AST can finally compete for a spot in parties and it's like the end of the world.

Exactley its fine and dandy to fix a class problems but not at the expenses of other classes , i am really happy with the other buffs ast got EXCEPT the potency increase that thing was uncalled for, with the sect their potencies was already the same as sch and whm. You see there is a difference between fixing something because is broken and has issues (which to be fair ast had) and overbuff something just because the comunitiy wants to because cards are cool.

Many also forget that they not ONLY have now higher potencies than both whm and sch but also got cards which aslo got their duration increased, i feel this is pretty much a joke in terms on balance.

Party bonus. WHM provides MND party bonus. A SCH/AST combo will miss that, thus making their healing potency relatively lower. On the other hand, WHM/AST will miss SCH's versatility, dps and exceptional mitigation.

Scholars still have the highest mitigation with galvanize having a chance to crit on top of eye for an eye and deployment tactics. On top of that, fey wind is still more reliable than card buffs and a scholar still has the highest sustained dps. I don't really think scholars have much to worry about.

However, if it wasn't for the mind buff to the party that a white mage brings then I would replace them with an astro without hesitating. An astro now has nearly as good of HoTs and raw healing potency as a whm on top of being able to bring a wide array of buffs to the party and bring mitigation with collective unconscious as well as disable.

I would definitely say white mages have more reason to be worried about being replaced.

I have both Ast and Sch @ 60

in same gear, helio does about 50-80 more hp for me.
Where Aspected Benefic heals around 250 hp less (but will shield 350 more)

So again, we are talking about difference of 1- 2 hundred at most currently. So it might not be as low as 2-3 potency, but not enough for any Sch to get So salty that they need to make 10 replies and complain about.

I would say Sch is still ahead of AST in both utility and heal power, DPS and clutch recovery.

Ast isn't "too good". In fact, the whm/sch combo is still significantly better than ast/anything combo for a number of reasons.

However, as of right now ast is at least closing the gap to whm, and with a couple small tweaks (specifically adding mnd party bonus and some tweaks to card rng), it can become an alternate to whm depending on the fight. Whm will always have better healing overall, but for fights where you can afford to trade some healing for buffs, you can choose ast.

As for sch, ast doesn't even come close when all's sand and done. Not because sch is OP or anything, but because honestly it's like comparing apples to oranges when in the context of raids.

All in all, at the very least ast is in a much better place now than it was before, and I'm having fun playing it. Well, I always had fun playing it, but the struggle in difficult content isn't so bad now. The class still needs so refining, but it's getting there.

I dont understand why people are so scared. Astro now are just competitive and people will be able to choose without any type of discrimination.

Wrong anyway, aspected helios is 150 potency, its shield is 100% its potency (not 130%) and probably sect bonus doesn't affect aspected spells, which makes sense. Do your math.

They have the same heals now, Benefic is the same strength as Cure, same with Benefic II and Cure II. Regens for WHM are only a bit stronger, i do 100 more healing every tick than AST regen and that's with my WHM's ilvl200 weapon, and unlike my Regen ast also does a small 1.4kish heal at the start. The AST AOE regen is only about 200 less than WHM's. DPS is pretty null cause if there's gonna be a healer dpsing in your group it's gonna be the sch. We have one better oGCD and that's Benediction, which if everything goes right you won't even touch in a fight. Tetra is about equal to the AST oGCD heal, ours heals more but has a longer CD than AST. Disable is better than Virus to a WHM. It's self buffs are also better than whms.

AST could find parties it just required comptent players to play the class, now it's almost on par with whm with the added party buffs.
